Thank God Insurance on All Phones

okccingular

Effective June 2nd every phone that at&t offers will be covered by insurance except for the iPhone. There will be two deductibles: tier 1 which will be the basic phones will continue to be $50 and tier 2 which will be the pda's will be $125. Can we all say about time. Now i don't have to take anymore escalations from Blackberry or PDA owners who always say well Verizon and Sprint cover all of their devices and sit on the other end of the phone without a comeback because they only were speaking the truth. What does everyone think about this.

This is welcomed news!!

As a BB 8310 user, I do get nervous when my phone takes a tumble. Since I own a few stores, it isnt a big deal to pull another out of the box for "official" use.

I am excited for my Tilt, DUO, and fellow 8310 users that now have a barrier of protection. Any idea if the cost for the pda insurance witll be different than the existing $4.99 charge, or just the aformentioned $125 deductible?

So will the existing covered PDA's...Q9's, Pearls, BJ 2's have to pay the $125 or are they grandfathered into the $50 deductible?

Will

The cost for the insurance will remain the same at $4.99, the only difference will be the deductible. As far as existing PDA's, their owners will be notified that in November, their deductibles will increase to the $125 deductible. Until November, according to Assurion, their deductible will remain $50.

The ONLY thing that sucks about this, is that this entire change can be summed up in one paragraph exactly as you have just done it. My company is making every single employee go to a "training" course across town for this. Just send out a freaking email!

Everyone in my company has been going to training classes from Assurion all week to make sure we know what's happening. It starts June 2nd, and you should see some information on it next week sometime in CSP.

I think if you need to insure yourself against the "financial catastrophe " of losing the use of a $300 phone you have no business having such an "expensive" phone.

Over on HoFo people (including myself) pay $400 for used phones from total strangers and ......yeah we can sleep at night not worrying about paying someone else to take the responsibility for our mistakes.

And $125 deductable? IF one can afford $125 certainly one can afford to pay a couple hundred more for a NEW phone.

I can understand the CDMA companies offring insurance becasue you cannot simple go get a phone on Ebay. But GSM phones are a dime a dozen. USe BB cost LESS then a years worth of insurance and a deductible.....

Insurance and Extended warranties are t...

Insurance for $6 a month and $125 deductible is too high.
If I were to want insurance, which I don't, it would be for 6 months to a year, then I sell the phone on Ebay for 70% of original cost, throw down another couple hundred to that and I have the latest and greatest again.

The insurance will still be $4.99/month which is really not a bad deal. The $125 deductible isn't all that bad considering that the PDA'S usually cost $400 or more for the no-commit price. I think that it's a really good deal and will help lessen all the complaints that we usually get regarding insurance on high end phones

I can't believe people who can afford a $400 phone consider losing $200 a financial catastrophe enough to want ti "insure" it. Its no wonder people cannot save a dollar nowadays. Their pockets are willingly being picked using fear.

Here I am buying used phones from total strangers on Ebay for $400. I must be crazy LOL

KEEP IN MIND THE POLICY OF INSURANCE DOES NOT CHANGE. THE CUSTOMER STILL HAS 30 DAYS TO SIGN UP FOR INSURANCE. SO SOMEBODY THAT PURCHASED A TILT IN APRIL CANNOT ADD INSURANCE. THIS IS POSSIBLY A ISSUE THAT MIGHT NOT GETTING CLARIFIED WITH CUSTOMERS

Crazy always works if you can afford the risk.
But no one who has anything or has achieved anything worthwhile has ever obtained those ends without taking risks.

The last six phones I bought for my wife and I were used and purchased from HoFo members or on Ebay. never had an issue. All still work like new. (except the one I ran over)
