Im a cingular customer and i live in the southern california area and i havent noticed any difference in my signal since the merger was approved. IS it true cingular service has dropped in the east coast since the merger or is that a myth? Last question can a cell phone providers cell phone service really drop after a merger?

It's a myth perpetuated by idiots. Your signal wouldn't be affected anyway. You just have more coverage in more areas now. And yes, a carrier's service and drop off at any point.

This is a myth created by ATTWS customers post merger.I'll drop the bomb for ya.When the merger happened, customers on the ATT side thought they would automatically get improved coverage, better reception, more everything including rollover on their ATT plans, if you past threads in here over the last almost year here and on the ATTWS website forum, you'd see.

The only real advantage of the 64K is haveing the increased capacity for SMS storage and the ENS (enhanced network selection)

Scapegoat, the ENS is how the ALLOVER NETWORK works, it can't be used on the blue side till migrated over to cingular

Actully ENS is simply a load balancing tool. It is not a required feature.. and it not required to utilize the network fully. (as i said an ATT or cingular device need simply to have the latest IRDB update). if what you say is true then we would ONLY be offering ENS capible devices to migrating ATT customer. but several of the devices we offer are not yet ENS capable

A Cingular honcho recently stated the network is still being integrated. This will allow both an ATT-GSM customer and a Cingular customer to use the best signal from either available tower as opposed to the network to which the phone was assigned. The integration will last til about the end of 2006 the article said. And no, I'm not going to look it up for y'all. Cingular obtained a lot of 850 spectrum, so service can only get better.

Even I thought the network was fully integrated when Cingular announced their "raising the bar" campaign. It wasn't. No one I knew saw any improvement at that time, although some say they now see the network marginally better.

This is what I read, not my opinion.

I tell you what, I live in NC and since the merger there are actually places that my phone picks up when I used to not get a signal. This may or may not be because of the merger, I just know one thing, Cingulars network seems to constantly be getting better. No ones coverage is perfect, but you sure as the hell cant ask for more when your coverage is getting better and you can HEAR the difference.

i live in so cal too... ive seen small differences in coverage. i know that places that my phone used to say "no service", my phone now says "at&t wireless" which i would assume is because of the merger. at least i can use the thing instead of turning to a buddy with another service or something. but i have a v600 and it sucks and it was recalled... so maybe im not seeing a GREAT enhancement because of the crappy phone... yay for the v635! 😎
