Just how easy is it using a unlocked phone? Is it worth it or should I stay away from it? Thanks in advance for the information.

All you really have to do is put the sim card from your current phone into the new one and install the battery. When the phone boots up it will see the AT&T network just like your old phone. You will need to copy your contacts from your sim card into your new phones memory. You will also need to add your voice mail phone number into the number 1 speed dial position. There is really nothing to it. If can have any phone you want and you don't have to extend your contract.

It's very easy. My last two phones have been unlocked, all you have to do after you put your SIM card in the phone is call the manufacturer (nokia, sony ericsson) and ask them to send you the internet and MMS settings to your phone. (You can also get these settings yourself, on the manufacturer's website) This takes no more than 2 minutes. I don't know what unlocked phone the other guy uses, but I didn't have to program the voicemail at all, neither one of my Sony E phones that is. Maybe Nokia requires you to. I don't know.

My unlocked Nokia automatically detected internet & MMS settings. I didn't have to call Nokia or go to any website.

You are missing out on a HUGE advantage of GSM..(worth all the dropped calls and crappy fidelity, buzzing speakers etc)

Unlocked phones are the ONLY way to go if you don't need your hand held around cellular technology. Just pop in a SIM card and go.

The best phones are the ones you DON'T see on ATT's website. Unless you just want the BB or any other mandatory $30 a month data phones.

Me: I have both the N95-3 and N95-4. Since I can spell T9 works better for me. That and I don't use text all that much. I read some email but respond with a call if its going...

AT&T must suck in your area. You're always talking about dropped calls and stuff. I, on the other hand, can't remember when was the last time I dropped a call. All my calls are very clear. AT&T is awesome in the Tampa, Clearwater area. Where are you?

Yes in my 1 sq mile or area I live in have (waht is considered on the streetmap) Marginal service. (Forestbrook rd and Panther Parkwy 29588 in Myrtle Beach check it out...BIG hole LOL)

I can guarentee a dropped call in a certain place on the way home, And at home We routinely drop calls with weak signal. This is a very small area and is deatailed on the street map. Maybe they will build a tower..Maybe not. But I wont sign a contract becasu...

I've had 2 unlocked handsets, the Sharp V903, and Nokia N95-3, both worked just fine.

And even though the Sharp V903 wasn't quad band it still worked just fine.

Everything on my N95-3 is fully functional, including 3G, and MMS. I haven't owned a Cingular/ATT branded handset since October 2005, no problems at all.

It works well! However, you won't be able to do MMS or MEdia Net unless you get the messaging and web browser settings for AT&T on your phone. I think the company will send the settings to you. I'd call in and talk to someone in tech support.
