SIM card in Nokia 6010?

Hi,

I'm trying to upgrade my mom's phone to a bluetooth model. She currently has a Nokia 6010, and I'm trying to get her a Motorola v505. The ones I'm finding on Ebay do not come with a SIM card. She appears to have a 64k SIM card in her Nokia-- can I simply insert this into a Cingular v505 and have her service function?

Thanks,
Shane

You can, but is she has had that phone and sim for a while ,she probably has 32k sim, go to stoer and show them they can tell you, they can also answer your other question, but that v505 is kinda crappy.

I have a 32k sim card with Cingular..what, if any, are the advantages and/or reasons I would need a 64k sim card? Thanks

There is no Cingular v505. Cingular has the v551. The v505 is an AT&T phone and unless it's unlocked it won't work with a Cingular SIM. I'd personally go with the v551 because it's a better phone and it's also ENS enabled, which means that the phone can decide on the fly whether the AT&T or Cingular network offers better service where you are currently located.

yup .. that correct.. unless you can verify the the V505 is unlocked(which i highly doubt) dont get it as a cingular sim will not work unless its unlocked.

go with the V551, you wont regret it

Extended Network Services.... or something like that.
It means what I said in the last post.
The phone and sim can determine what network is best for you in any given area.
A non-ens phone will stick with the home network even if there is only a faint signal.
Your 6620 is ens enabled.... unless it's an at&t 6620.

So what if the v505 (interested in it over the v551 because of price) doesn't come with a SIM? Can I walk into Cingular and will they give me a SIM to work with it? I don't really understand SIM's all that much...

Thank you,
Shane

No, you would not be able to, cingular's policy is that they won't let you activate a aTTWS branded phone, locked or unlocked, only a cingular phone, or any other phone unlocked.
