Original iPhone owners please help
based on your knowledge and past experience, is it a lost cause for me to go to an at&t and or apple store after work on friday? I would get to the first at&t a little after 5pm.
basically...are they going to be sold out?

Although every store's stock and traffic may vary, it is my understanding that AT&T is fully preparing to have enough devices to cover demand.
Personally, I would use the online store locater to find the stores in your area and give them a call shortly before you head out and inquire about availability. That will save you the time and gas driving around in case one store is sold out.
