text alert problem

i have tries to restore my iphone software through itunes but after about 10 incoming text messages the alert sound just won't go off anymore......anyone having this problem?

should i just take it to the apple genius bar and have them replace it?

Had a lady that happened to with the original iphone. Phone was making a loud, high pitched sqweek. She took it to the apple store wrapped in a towl. needless to say, she was pretty pissed by the time she made the 30 minute drive to the closest apple store.
