Email I would have to say Blackberry, any model. The internet is great if you download Opera Mini for the BB. Depending if you like to view Office documents then you should check out the Tilt or the Moto Q

if you use the internet a lot as you say I would stay away from the BBs for right now until the BOLD comes out. Unless you want it to take forever as the current ones are only Edge. Email though they would be the best. if you want a really good fast internet/email device check out the Tytn II (aka Tilt) or as the other post states go with the Moto Q9h(global) or the Blackjack II. They are really nice and easy to use.

I really don't have a problem with my Curve as far as EDGE is concered. I've used 3G on a 8525 before and really didn't see a hugh difference. A friend has the Tilt in a 3G area and really doesn't think that the hype around 3G is worth it.

It might be the way ATT has the switches set up on the BB server then. I know that the Edge phones that I have used compared to the 3G ones there is a huge difference.

My friend had a K850i and it zoomed on 3G but other than that my Curve beat a Tilt to ESPN's web page. I used Opera and the Tilt was using IE (could be the reason why).

So very true, IE doesn't handle the internet well, 🤣 how ironic. But you have to also look at the fact that you (with Opera) were probably loading the mobile version of ESPN and his Tilt (with IE) if set right was more probably loading the full version. But I hear what you're saying.

Very true, I had the Tilt and the Opera browser loaded pages in about a 1/5 of the time it took IE to open them - huge difference.

The Opera browser opens the full HTML version of web pages not the WAP version. Just like the iPhone you move to the area that you want to look at and zoom in.

Yeah that is the newer versions of Opera Mobile if for some reason they have the "Mini" version you have to enable the HTML sites. It will still take you to the "mobile" version of Google and a other sites. But you are correct as there are very few sites now that have or still use the WAP protocol due to the prevalence of "full" web browsers for all types of devices.

Well, I know it doesnt matter but i disagree with that, i live in the Houston area where 3G is strong and had an 8525 and it did make a difference, and has on the numerous 3G phones that i have had. but we all have different experiences.
