Alltel Divested Markets - AT&T?
I have a hard time figuring how AT&T could pick up divestures from a CDMA carrier buyout. That would be a lot of money spent on tower conversion to GSM. Alltel does have some GSM towers.
It would offset some of the roaming agreements in the upper midwest.

Not only that, but it'd be a minor headache for them to convert the CDMA customers to GSM. Plus it would help keep the lead Verizon would get down if AT&T managed to scoop up some of those customers.

I don't think so.Once those Alltel customer lose their My Circle plans and 7PM nights and pay more for less. They will be more likely to suddenly want the iphone.
In most markets Alltel and Verizon are in together Alltel has MORE customers than Verizon. Not hard to understand why when you look at their plans.
I predict a lot of ALLtel customer will defect once their grandfathered contracts end.
Some will return since ATT does drop more calls and has less than great customer Service.
These markets consist of western half of Kansas and the southern portion of MN.
