Towers combine for better reception?
I've noticed that my phone's banner was changed from "AT&T Wireless" to "Cingular." Does anyone know when the towers in the Chicago area (or anywhere for that matter) will be combined? My banner still switches from "Cingular" to "Cingular Wireless" when I'm in buildings (probably because the 850 is stronger).
Sometimes when it doens't switch automatically, my phone gets really bad reception on the old ATTWS "Cingular" banner 1900Mhz towers and it won't let me force it over to Cingular's "Cingular Wireless" banner 850mhz towers. When will it be seamless so I can just get the 850 or at least be able to force it?

I believe you need an ENS capable phone and 64k SIM card. This will let your phone take the stronger signal first. I believe Cingular plans to have the alpha tags on everyones phone to read "Cingular" by mid-year.

I guess you can't have everything. I kept my ATTW plan because it has almost twice the minutes of current Cingular plans, but I can only take advantage of the 850Mhz towers when get get no reception. If I get the slightest amount of 1900MHz ATTWS tower, my phone locks that in and my reception is terrible. I could care less if my phone says "Cingular" if I'm actually still on the 1900Mhz ATTWS towers. I guess there are trade-offs in life, eh?

If you are an ATTWs customer, it won't , your phone service won't get any bet...
