is it just me or does at&t have sucky phones? the only good phone they have is the iphone, but it is way too expensive, especially with the monthly payments for it. i need a new phone SO badly, but i can't get one because none of their phones meet my requirements. i want a phone with a qwerty keyboard that is NOT a pda, so i'm not required to pay the $30 a month for internet. i wish at&t would get phones like the env2 or the samsung glyde from verizon. am i the only person who feels this way?

You can get any of the PDA's with a keyboard and not get the internet plan. Messaging unlimited will be enough to get the rebate too.

(excludes the iPhone)

i went into at&t a few weeks ago to buy the palm centro, but they told me in order to get the rebate i had to get the unlimited internet plan. i should probably go there again and ask if i can do the unlimited messaging instead

you can get unlimited messaging, ATT is running a promo for the salespeople and the Palm only qualifies if it has the PDA plan, that actually goes for all PDA's including Berries and Palms as well don't take no for an answer

It depends what market. We don't have a promo in my area.

If they balk at the unl messaging plan option, ask them to see a rebate form. It says right on the form that messaging is ok to get the rebate.

yup. Its just you. I have the blackberry curve with no internet plan and have never found a reason to use another phone. It simply trounces everything when it comes to messaging. And I'd love to hear a reason as to why you think a non pda phone would be better than pda phone.

If you may feel so obliged go ahead and buy an unlocked phone that isn't a pda phone.

Oh yeah...the iphone blows chunks. 😲

read the Specs of the N95...That should answer that question.Actually it is a Personal Digital Assistant phone without a QWERTY keyboard. But you get UL 3G Internet for $15 a month. The phone pays for a huge chunk of itself in savings from that alone over a couple years...

I'm not sure what you are saying. You are basically affirming my stance that a pda phone is better than a non pda phone correct? How about the new e71? Symbian with qwerty all in a sleek metalic pacakge.

They are a little hard to find right now, but both the LG 915 and 920 VU have a full QWERTY keyboard for texting. The 920 even offers live TV and I really like the feel and response of the touchscreen keypad.

I've had mixed feelings on it with all the returns we have gotten. The TV is realy cool though if you get it in your area.

But I do agree with the thread starter. It would be nice to see a phone similar to the env from verizon. As cool as touch screens are, it would be nice to have a real keypad.

I have heard rumors that ATT will have non-PDA QWERTY phones from either LG or Samsung before the end of the year. Just rumors though. A few years back ATT (then Cingular) carried a LG phone with a qwerty keyboard and it was a dog.

I've heard those rumors too. Do you remember the old samsung phone with the qwerty on it and no camera? That phone was a beast.

I will have to agree with you...

I have had the curve, shine, Samsung Slim and SYNC, and i have had the v3xx RAZR, and the cingular htc 8525...

reception wise the 8525 was good, and so has the RAZR.

the razr has an excellent ear piece in my standards since i am near deaf when it comes to listening on phones.

the 8525 was horrible with blue tooth so my BT GPS deviced worked 2 times out of ten.

the slim and the sync was a horrible phone when it came to reception and ear piece. couldn't hear phone calls to save my life.

the shine, everytime i sent a text message and got a response, i had to wait for the bars to disappear, and then reappear in order to send a text message, and i don't live in a black hole, my razr is fine.

No it is not just you, I have had ATT 20 months in 1 day, which means I can FINALLY upgrade getting a full discount. In the 20 months, I have kept pretty up to date on the phones ATT carries. The ONLY two I have ever been interested in are the iphone and the Vu.

Iphone is double the price (right now) to buy the phone $200 and $30 a month MANDATORY

Vu is only $100 and you can optionally get a $15 dollar internet plan.

On those guidelines alone I have chosen the Vu, I really like the iphone also but to be honest the texting is such a drag and I have small hands, I cant even imagine having bigger hands and texting its already so retarded.

Verizon has such better phones in my opinion they have carried 10-15 phones I would have ...
