v220 + cingular

i just want to be able to *directly* download photos to my computer from my phone. do i need the $25 "motorola compatible" usb cable from cingular? is it possible that there is a cheaper manufacturer for the same exact cable?

and why do i need the extra "data access" feature added to my voice plan? you mean we have to pay extra just to download the photos on our phones? note that i don't want to email the photos to anyone, just move them to my computer!

and why do i have to have the cingular "connection manager" software if all i want is to connect the cable to my computer from my phone? the instructions tell me to go online and log on and use internet explorer! why do i have to go such a roundabout (costly) way? 🙄

first, any Mini-USB to USB cable should work (the one that came with my Sony Digital camera works with my V3)

second, yes, you need the motorola SOFTWARE (Mobile Phone Tools)

third, connection manager is only for using your phone as a wieless modem, so if you not using it this way, then don't worry about it.

Last, The data access plan is just for using your phone as a wieless modem as well. don't need it just to transfer pics

hope this helps

okay, been looking around for this and can't seem to land on the specifics. they sell a motorola-compatible cable yet it doesn't come with the software? so either cingular or motorola gets to sell this too?

It's for sale from Motorola, not from Cingular.
