question about texting between cingular customers

my friend and i are both cingular customers and she says she sends texts to me alot and i only get them like half the time what does this mean and is this normal? how can i fix the problem?

There are a few things you can do. You can try power cycling your phone (turning it off for about 30 secs turning it back on) you can call and see if there are any issues, which i dont know your market so cant tell you if there are. You can call and see if any troubleshooting can be done. But it can just be due to a backup in the systems. So many people trying to text at the same time things like that. GL

I'm a cingular heavy text messenger and I typically don't have a problem. However knowing how the technology works (in layman's terms) may help. Contrary to what a lot of people believe test messages do not go directly phone to phone. It goes from the originator to the server then to your phone. ("Message sent" does not mean it successfully delivery). Once messages reach the server it's most likely to be successful delivery providing the number or address is correct. So to narrow down the problem you need to check 1) is the number or address is correct? 2) is procedure she is using to send the message correct? (mistakenly chosing wrong options.) 3) Make sure there's enough memory on both your phone and hers. 4)If gait phones are being us...

If she was in the MN market we had a problem with txt messages not going through for a while but that has been fixed. Maybe similar issue even if in a different market?
