on the cingular website, after placing the mpx220 in ur basket, u can select the $24.99 ultd meida works data plan. however, if u go to a cingular retail store, they say ultd data is $39.99 for the mpx220.

The $39.99 plan is the 'PDA unlimited' for Express email, same as the Treo 650. If you want just browsing, get the $24.99 feature.

My understanding is that the PDA Unlimited is for PDA like devices... They have different browser settings... I could be wrong, though.

Please let me clear this up:

MPX220 originally could not be the the 19.99 media works. they would go on the $40/45 PDA connect.

this has changed with the new promotions

they did away with unlimited internet on the works and completely did away with the PDA plan (technically its the RIM data plan now)

the new 24.99 unlimited data plan does not include any other features, but it will work on all phones, including the Treos. the only device not allowed are the Blackberrys (RIM) and modem cards.

also keep in mind that the 24.99 internet unlimited cannot be used for laptop tethering.

Tethering should allow DUN (dial up networking), but I've tried it with two different customers laptops and it's a no go. Hopefully somebody smarter than me can figure it out though.

I had done it with my home pc a couple of times, but now, it will not work..I truly think someone (Cingular?) has made that feature not work..keep in mind I did it via bluetooth, not the usb cable..so who knows..its not something I needed anyway, was just testing it out..

That's what I was suspecting as well. I also got it to work once using bluetooth on my home computer, but tethering has been a mystery to me. I don't think it's a Cingular issue, I believe it's a software issue. Motorola's Mobile Phone tools will let a phone dial out to make a phone call, and dialing up to a modem is no real difference... grr, feel the frustration.
