If I had the Iphone 3G more than 30 days, and now feel like getting a blackberry on at&T ( for example Bold ) , will that mean breaking the contract even though both use AT&T3 G network ?

it won't break your contract but you will have to pay full retail for the new phone you get unless you are planning on adding a line

It may be a little more complex than that. The contract on the iPhone requires the iPhone data feature, right? If someone bought a Blackberry Bold outright, could they drop the iPhone data feature and replace it with the Blackberry data feature without breaking the terms of the contract with the iPhone?

I know the feature cost to the customer is the same, but I don't know the details on how that applies to dropping the iPhone data, since if someone could simply substitute the Blackberry data plan, what is to stop them from then just logging into their online account management and dropping the Blackberry data plan? Then you have an iPhone contract with no data plan.

Of course, they could most likely use the iPhone data plan with t...

You can drop the iphone plan at any time for any reason as long as you are going to another phone, I know I did this, all you have to do is call in and give the rep the IMEI number of the phone that you will be using, and guess what after that you can put your sim back in the iphone and use it to. 😉

yea he will prob get the text that says you are using a data plan that is not eligible for the iphone 3g.

ive actually seen many accounts that say this. and yes if you use the service you will be charged for ALL usage. the way they can tell is all iphone activations have the imei in the system. and even if you call to switch. att still knows if you put your sim back in your iphone

The answer to the question of whether they could remove the iphone data plan is yes you can. But in order to do so you would have to use a different phone. The iphone is the only phone that at&t has that requires any kind of data plan. You are not contracted to the plan or feature with at&t. Only the length of time you have service. As long as you have an active phone with them they don't care what you do on it.

bold won't be released until next month, at least in GA. but thats beside the point. with the iphone, the data plan is required because it syncs with itunes (its in the TOA). the blackberry requires you try out the data package for at least 60 days in order to get the 100 dollar rebate.
