Military Discount

Okay, the place I am working for is supposed had a contract with ATT, and we're able to get a 19% discount. I had an existing plan with Cingular, which, as we all know, is one with ATT now. So I walked into a store, and had the store reps check my ID and note my account (I'm not active duty, but as far as I can tell, the discount still applies to my organization. the store reps were hesistant though). I did that about two or three weeks ago, an they said that the request would have to be proceesed. Hwoever, I check the bill that just came out, and there doesn't appear to be any discount. (I was told 7% before here and in the store, 19% on the website for our organization). The issue is, there doesn't appear to be any kind of discount,...

If the discount was applied for through the store it can take upto 30 days to get on the account, but in most cases it will be retroactive to the date that it was applied for.

You get what give. You want us treat you with respect and assist you, you treat the person with respect. Its as simple as that.Respect and courtesy is a 2 way street that some customers have forgotten, paying a monthly service does not give a person a liscence to be rude and overbearing.Thats simple common courtesy.

Yes, but on the other side of that... Working for a company, you are supposed to turn the other cheek... Don't get me wrong, there are just some people that "boil my blood" when they walk up to me at my store, and they will never recieve the kind of service that I give to other customers, but in a perfect world it would not be that way.

Well, maybe i'm just a jerk, but I'm a phone salesman, not Jesus. And I'm not saying someone has to kiss my ass to receive good customer service, but the customer should understand something:

I do not set company policy. Don't blame me for something I have no control over. I will gladly research and help you with anything I can, but I didn't personally login to your account and mess with it, so don't hold me responsible.

There's a reason restaraunts and business' have those "reserve the right to refuse service" signs. Some people are just jerks, and if I have respect enough for them to not call them names, they should have the same for me.

Wow, I was agreeing with the reps... I work here too, you know... I was just stating the obvious... And I also own a pizza shop.. I know why I refuse service to people sometimes... Its just unavoidable.. I am not Jesus either, I just know that they if I am rude back to them it gets them worse and I avoid that at all costs.

Keep in mind you're the first person they see. If they're already frustrated when they come in, they're going to vent it out at the first person they see no matter what. Just don't fight it. it will only make it worst. (Sometimes it's best to put on an act and pretend you're trying to fix the problem even though you know there's nothing can do. At least it will calm down the situation and make the customer feel better.)

First off, Thanks for the information about the discounts, and the period of time it takes for discounts to take effect. The store reps told me it would take several days, apparently another case where they don't know what they're talking about.

Look, I walked into that store having asked about what I was supposed to get on this forum. So I was a little surprised when the people in the store offered different information, or just didn't know what they were talking about, though I was still respectful to the employees there. Getting to post on a forum certainly removes inhibitions about harsh criticisms though.

You're right, paying a monthly fee doesn't entitle me to be rude. However, having to visit stores about 5 times and wait on...

I had a similar problem with Cingular last month. While I'm sure the store reps were trying their best, there was really no way to ensure that I would get the same military discounts on a plan I bought in the store as I would through the Premiere web site. If you have a .mil email address, you can go through the Premiere site, and choose from either Cingular or ATT plans (which have better discounts), and you will see your discounted monthly charges from the beginning.

What do I know, plenty first I work for Cingular Blue, thats first, second. The plans he describes does not even exist. You don't get automatics discount off the monthly service fees, you get a national account discount, after its generated and after taxes, so that was bull that hookem said.He/She is just trying to wind you up, and you ARE buying that stuff!!!

I am a Team manager, my duty is to do Floor Support for a couple of hours. already did my monitors of my team reps, so I try to provide better info, with a company this sized, misinformation is bound to happen, like any other large corporation, so this helps bring down the call volume, so much the better for everyone, those witing on hold and those taking calls.

Cingular believes in privacy, plus i tell it like it is, cuz anything else is just not homest and leaves an impression to call back and try with someone else, and with any large company, you try long and hard enough, you'll find an answer that you or others may want, which spreads misinformation.

Sure to get answers you want to hear, just not the truth, otherwise listen to him!

He doesn't even work for Cingular directly.
Well since Cingular bought ATTWS, I do Now!!

He works for a third party.

He's not in NJ.

First off, learn to block quote correctly.

A)Clock this and Block that!!

Second Q), I am not a "dealer". I am a newly promoted manager for a retail store location. I also had ZERO returns on my sales for the entire 4th quarter. My customers get the truth every time I open my mouth. Do I care about commision? Of course, but I have already had to write up an employee who gave out incorrect info to get a sale. We don't need to give misinfo, we are the best.

A)You are a dealer, just a direct one, who still works on commission, and add things on ,like data features, text features, and other add-on's that you make money off of, and we have to clean up the next month, when they call in stating they never asked or requested that item!!!

If you had any knowledge outside of what you are told by Convergys, then you would know the difference between a dealer, a direct dealer, and a Company owned sales store. There is a difference, but I wouldn't expect you to understand.
And I only add what customers request. I've worked for every national carrier and had the same quality results. I even had Tmobile customers follow me to Verizon. Hearing you preach about scruples is a ...
