Can anyone give me any info on how someone on a family plan could take over their line. Like make their own account and take over that phones contract. I am unable to find the info on ATT website.

It is called a transfer of service. The original account holder must give permission for it to be done. Basically with the authorization note on the account which is valid for 60 days the transfer of service team can move the number into a new account. An 18.00 transfer of service fee will be applied to the first bill for the new account plus prorated charges and bill in advance charges just as normal will apply to the new account holder. The original account holder will see prorated charges from the beginning of their bill cycle to the day of transfer on their bill. The new account will have to get on their own plan. The new account holder will face a credit evaluation and if a deposit is required it MUST be paid that day.
