Bold is able to be ordered today in the agent channel. $399.99 with new 2 year agreement, voice plan and BIS. $100 MIR brings it to $299.99 pricing.

Will update later today if they ship or if they go backorder.

I've already heard it's on allocation hold. That means small orders are more likely to ship.

5 of them on order.
$514 cost per unit

I think RIM executives might not see a huge take rate especially since the iphone is only $200 with no rebates. They need to drop the price substantialy.

They will drop the price after the stores have purchased thousands of these high margin units from them. 😲

I think RIM learned from Apple that people will stand in line for hours and pay high prices for phones. At least those who consider their phone a status symbol will.

Everything these days comes out originally inflated in price, it being expensive is part of what makes it a status symbol. It will drop before Christmas I bet. 🙄

I doubt it will drop before Christmas.

Number one, they do not expect to sell a ton of these handsets as they are keeping the Curve in their AT&T portfolio. Two, it is the same price as the 16GB iPhone and frankly it does more.

The 8820 stayed at a constant price throughout it's life cycle.

I don't think I even want to sell one considering the buydown.

It's crazy, I would have to sell somebody 80.00 in accessories and a tethering package in order to make any money.

I'll let my co-workers sell this phone, not me.

I think your math is off. The buy down is only $15 more than the Tilt.

I don't know how you get paid but if you are willing to sell a Tilt you would be crazy to not sell a Bold.

Sorry, but Last year on the x-mass rush, The Pantech Duo came out.

An employee of ours sold 5 the day it came out, and she barely broke even.

The buydown effects us tremendously...

& I hardly sold any Tilts...Not that great of a phone for some of my customers.

The buy down on the Duo is $200 right now. You aren't comparing apples and apples. The Palm 750 was even at a $115 buy down for a good long while, same as the Bold will be.

Do you not sell any BB Curves? They are $100.

Not without a data package. 😉

I agree, mine do not go out at that price either without data. I just do not see anyone who is willing to sell a Curve, Tilt, Q or any smartphone for that matter balking at a Bold. Even if you are paid on Gross Profit it is a small difference, especially considering most Bold buyers will not settle for anything else.

It is hilarious when sales reps say "I won't sell that...".

Really?

That many people banging down your door you can be choosey about who you help?

Must be nice.

The 8820 has not been a constant price, was originally $299 after rebate, is available for $149.99 (BMG promo price if eligible voice, data, and either tethered data, Int'l data, Unltd Navigator, Unltd text, or unltd PTT).

The 8820 was at a constant price the entire time it was available in stores. The phone has been discontinued in the retail channel for quite a few months now. There was no pricing discount during it's entire retail life cycle.

I actually did not receive a backorder notification like I do with others. When I get nothing that usually means allocation. Not neccessarily backorder but some delays nonetheless.
