Hello all,

I am on my second Red shine in less than a year. I had the first on replace on warranty due to the phone doing stuff like shutting down and accessing features (including dialing) all by itself. The second phone is now starting to do the same thing. I have noticed that the numbers on the right side of the key pad do not want to work and now it is going into messaging and music sync on its own. Last night it started music sync and I had to shut the phone down to get it to stop. I could not end the application or do anything. It also has sent one message three times. I was told that this was a known problem when I got this replacement phone. BTW, there is no damage to the phone at all. Not even a scratch. Now my husband has a silv...

I had this phone, did similar stuff, the build was horrible too, I treated this phone with kid gloves and it still broke in regards to the slider, buy unlocked phones from phonesource-usa.com

Generally warranty sends out the same make/model/color since a back cover is usually kept along with the battery/other accessories...as for insurance, color is considered cosmetic and isn't something that's generally changed either. the phone's mechanics I wouldn't think should be different since they're the same type of phone, but I don't work for the manufacturer so I can't say for sure...

Go to a dealer and ask for an exception upgrade. Get a new make and model and leave these crappy sliders alone. I would suggest getting a Blackberry or the Z9 if you have to have a slider. Too many moving parts = problems.

Good morning,

I am considering pitching a fit and trying to get a Pearl for a replacement. I do like the shine but not if I have to return it every six months. I have not had a Blackberry so I am looking for advise on whether to stay with the shine or go with a Blackberry. I do like the ability to use the pda functions in one unit with the phone (no need for an additional PDA). It looks like the con on making the change is losing the 3G and video message. I do more texting now (about 5-10 on most days) and access media net some. The web and email is nice to have when I am out and about (which is always). Why would the blackberry be better for me??? I like the Pearl so is the 8110 or 8120 better? What are the down sides to the Pearl? Sorry...

It all depends on the style you like with your QWERTY. The Pearl has SureType TM and the Curve and Bold have the traditional full QWERTY. I like both and recommend both but it really is about user preference. Go to a local ATT store and have the rep show you both. The feature set in the Bold is a bit more advanced than the Curve or Pearl but a good rep should show you how to use it. I'm personally using the Curve and love it.
