I am stuck in contract with another carrier, but I want the Blackberry Bold. Does at&t offer any kind of $$ to offset the ETF of another carrier??

No. You are responsible for any ETF should you cancel your contract. No carrier currently offers to help pay for your ETF if you decide to port in from another carrier.

You might revise that opinion. Carriers can and will under the right circumstances. So will agents if the deal is right.

Okay, thank you for the quick answer.

I guess I will have to wait for the Bold until late 2009. ☹️

No, but some retailers might. There are also sites where you can swap contracts with other users.

I've tried those contract swiping cites. They suck, I never got anyone to take mine, so I just canceled and paid the ETF.

People hate being locked into contracts, so most of the time they would not be willing to take yours over for you.

I feel the same way about contracts, I believe in business being earned, not demanded. Satelite tv companies require contracts also.

I haven't been under contract in over 3yrs, my last 2 handsets have been unlocked/unbranded, and bought on ebay.

And I intend to buy an
unlocked/unbranded Nokia N97-NAM when it comes out.

Also if you work for the right company, AT&T offers $75 port in credits on some FAN accounts which can offset an ETF some.
