Why??

If Cingular can include unlimited M2M on certain plans, as well as give unlimited nights and weekends, why can't they give unlimited text messaging at a certain price. Does it cost them (Cingular) more if a person text messages someone instead of calling?? Doesn't talking on your phone and sending a text message use the same path i.e. hitting the tower and going to the other persons phone? Thanks for anyones insight in advance.
They sell airtime packages, thats what they do, the rest the make the money back from, so fron a financial standpoint, they would loser money, thats why most carriers charge for packages, and none are unlimited, we all know how much money they(ATTWS) ade from unlimited in...

I had FREE unlimited text messages for the first 3 years Cingular was in existance..don't tell me they CAN'T do it..
that was due to an error. it was fixed during a system audit. it CAN be done. ANYTHING can be done if the codes for it are loaded into the billing system. it's not profitable to have unlimited text messaging. i agree that the $19.99 package should be unlimited, but that's why im not running the joint..lol

No jinx, when Bellsouth Mobility became Cingular, that was one of the things they offered, free unlimited text messaging for 2 years to ALL customers who switched to Cingular then..I was just fortunate enough to have it for 3 years instead of 2..
Yes, that was offer to switch over, as when you switched it came with a contract.the point is Technically can they? YES!, will they NO!, as that costs them money, so it is NOT GOING to happen.

Why does it cost them money?? Does it not use the same path as a call?? We have unlimited calling, but why not unlimited text..
no its uses different usage, think of it this way, you have two straws, the one on the left is for voice, and the other is data, text messaging uses both straws, where as voice uses one, and data uses the other, text requires both straws working together.
so double amount going through.and the bigger point, unlimited calls are to customers they own, where as texts are sent to multiple carriers, and both domestic and international!
It's the way we make money.
I sell my customers SMS, MMS, and MediaNet packages, then Cingular makes money and rewards me by paying me money.
Nice little system and is usually bitched about by the lazy and unsuccessful.
Hope this helps.

No that promotion was just that a promotion with the plan.. If I remember correctly, the option were the $29.99 you could chose one of the 3 promos (mobile to mobile, nights and weekends, or unlimited text messaging)...

But I don't see how they can offer unlimited calling but can't offer unlimited text..is it more expensive for Cingular?? I don't see how it could be..
They offer unlimited calling, because its based on volume, 49.6 million customers. there is more benefit from them, its cheaper for a company to have minutes on aservice then it is for text capabilities!

Actually, T-Mo had unlimited text messaging for $9.99 for a while. Also, AT&T didn't go "out of business."
Well let's see, ATTWS was bought out by cingular wireless. The production of all ATTWS phones were discontinued, all plans were discontinued. All attws customers are now "legacy" customers. The name ATTWS goes back to the Parent Company ATT, which is being bought out by one the 2 parent parent companies of Cingular- SBC.
Anybody who wants to do anything such as change their coverage plan, get new phones, has to "migrate" over to cingular "orange"
pretty much like i said in other posts its like a war, "we" simply cutthe customers supply lines on the blue side "new phones, SIM CAR...

Why don't you go back to the VZW forum and bother them, thats you're good at, from reading all those flaming posts you spew!

Actually, it's "that's what you're good at". If your going to bother correcting someone, at least get it right yourself.
Is it unfair for Buster and I to "tag-team" these posts? 😉

Whoa whoa whoa, I'm not looking to "tag team" anything with you, YOU SICK FREAK 😳
However, you calling me a sick freak- well, that's just the pot calling the kettle black!
That said, I can't imagine that anybody finds your rampant self-righteousness appealing, nor your rudeness amusing. I've been reading these forums on a daily basis, and have seen very little value from your posts. Have you ever considered waiting to post until you have something worth saying?
USCC is a much smaller company, and they offer unlimited sms for $24.95 starting march 1st. If they are in your area, you should check them out. They also offer unlimited incoming, and on some plans unlimted m-2-m. Just a suggestion since you are looking for un sms(text.)
Like any company that is in business to make a profit, you have to make good decisions about what you give the consumers, companies like Cingular and Verizon get labeled as expensive but they think in higher numbers. No one can afford to really give millions of customers unlimited everything (especially when most are only paying 40.00 a month) That's why a lot of phone companies are getting bought out now.
I'm sure you wouldn't work unlimited hours for the same pay every week.
