If I remember correctly toaster is correct, But to get the rebate on a smart phone (ie. a Blackberry) you need the data package. there are plenty of "dumb" phones with a full keyboard. The Eternity is nice so is the Propel.

I just ran down out rebate form looking at requirements for the qwerty phones.

All of them have a * that says requires a 20$ higher messaging or data plan.

The question is: Does the family text cover every line or just the line that it shows on the bill? /shrug

My situation is about like yours and I got to propels for my boys. We were told we can get the rebates. Waiting for them to come back still with in that 6-8 week time frame. So according to what we were told and the fact no one has let us know the rebates have been rejected than I would say it is possible.

yes you can get the rebate. $30 family text = rebate on any line on the account

so I can get the rebate and not have to have a monthly data plan on that line?

That is correct as long as you have the family unlimited text plan. 😁

sometimes you have to add it to get the rebate but then just remove it after you order it, or like wait a month to remove it. lol.

don't know if you did this or not, but on the rebate you go to this website att.com/wirelessrebate and you can track the status of the rebate. They also send a text message to the phone # you wrote down on the rebate form when it is received/approved/ and mailed. Its a pretty damn good rebate program I must oblige.

Personally I think the rebate requirements are a hoax to get sales people to get more feature sales. I just bought a blackberry 8900 outright with no data plan and got the $100 rebate back.
