The official word on the Moto a630

This is comming straight from my Motorola rep who is over the Dallas and Houston markets. Again, as we all know, things vary from market to market. All I have to say is WTF?!? I wouldn't plan on seeing it on the 20th. I bet we will see it next month if at all.

Here is what he had to say:

"Wow there is an actual date!? We have not heard of an official ship date for this phone. In fact, the phones are ready to ship from Motorola. However, Cingular has not given us the approval to ship to their warehouse. It's all in Cingular's hands at this point."

That seems to be the case. This would explain why some reps don't have the phone on their pricing sheet anymore. Someone over the weekend reported on this site that the delay was due to "sub par" parts in the phone. I guess the initial version was good for T-Mobile but not for us. Also, my rep reported that T-Mo DID NOT have a 100 day exclusive, however the V330 will be for them.

Oh well, I am tired of waiting.....I ordered an unlocked quad-band version of the phone. Yeah it will have T-Mo's branding and software, but that can be easily flashed and flexed to remove it.

What's another month to wait, right?

i work for a wal-mart connection center in arkansas. i have talked to my cingular rep and she said that this phone available from the "Cingular" stores for special order only. but i was waiting until the 20th to see if it came out for real.
so i guess we'll see.

How do we lobby cingular to release this damn phone? And to whom do we send it to?

Guys, the word we recieved today from our agent is that Cingular does not intend to release the phone. A number of issues with the phone i.e., having problems with the 800 mhz, express mail, and the failure of the LG 9100. To be honest the phone is not that great to begin with.
Funny thing is that we received skews for the item, but a week later it was pulled from the lineup. We even played with a number of prototypes at a Function last year. Also, heads up the phone is not a quad-band phone. If you get it through T-mobile, you will be left without the 800mhz freq, so buyer beware.
