AT&T has 20 days left...
Autumn begins on Tuesday, September 22, 2009.
Twenty days and counting, AT&T...
PLACE YOUR BETS FOLKS!
I bet ten bucks we'll see the autumnal equinox before we see an announcement from AT&T that MMS and Tethering are ready to go for the iPhone 3 G S.

Making promises that aren't kept has been an AT&T problem since the old ATTWS days.
They have picked up a lot of the bad habits of old AWS. The new AT&T should know better!
Q2: Why do all of AT&T's non-smartphones have such poor cameras on them? Even the flagship Bold is only 2.0 MP...
You wouldn't think that these two questions had any relationship to each other, but I'm going to throw my hat out there that they both have the same answer-
AT&T can't support 3+ megapixel MMS on their current platform. Those of you out there who have Sprint or Verizon handsets with 3.0+ cameras on them probably get the same interesting response I do when I snap a still-frame picture at highest resolution and send it to my brother-in-law who owns a 3G AT&T handset: The message just never gets there, and he has no idea that I even sent it!
Now, i...

Yes, Iphone users do put a strain on networks, but the problem wouldn't be as big on a network that splits the two streams (or prioritizes voice). If it was on a network that does, the data side of things would suffer(maybe), but people would still be able to make calls.

It shouldn't matter what size camera your phone has. The phone should auto size it to support mms @ 300kb or 600 kb like you said. I'm sure the reliability on sending a photo with a c905a isn't hampered by the resolution on the 8mp camera since it autosizes the photo anyways. The samsung eternity has a 3mp cam just like the iphone and has no problems sending mms.
What you're not understanding is that the dumbing down of picture quality ONLY happens on AT&T's network (in North America) because their MMS architecture that was installed 7 or 8 years ago was woefully short-sighted.
Every other carrier has been ...

There are 20 million smartphone users and 9 million iPhone users but the iPhone users use 10 times the network capacity as other smartphone users. They are data leeches. No carriers network would have been able to stand up to this amount of use. AT&T should let the exclusive agreement expire and give their network a break. Let VZ, Sprint, and TMobile carry some of that congestion because one network will not be able to handle a large amount of iPhone users.

AT&T's network is so strained that even its 2G is suffering. I've noticed my service g...
