Can a cingular rep answer this pricing question?

My contract is coming up for renewal and I want to upgrade to the RAZR. The upgrade price is $439, but new customers get it for $369, after a mail in rebate. Third party stores here in NYC have deals going for $179. Will Cingular match any of this? If not, why not just let my contract lapse and sign up for new service? Or will this result in me being treated like a returning customer anyway?

humm, that dosn't sound right. In my market if you are eligable to renew your contract for two more years you should get the same two-year pricing as a new customer would.

GO into a corporate owned Cingular store. Here the pricing is the same regardless if you are a new, upgrading, or migrating customer. This is the case in my market. Or try Best Buy, the stores here in Dallas are selling them for $399 on a one year contract. On-line or Cingular's telsale department also offers great deals.

Cingular does not match the pricing of 3rd party retailers. Don't bother with 3rd party's....it takes 4-6 months for your rebate, and they are a wealth of problems. If you let your contract lapse and sign up for new service, there are 2 problems with that. One, you can't keep your number and two the rep who activates you would be commiting false churn, which is a big no-no.

Hope this helps...
