My store sells third party insurance that issues replacements from our inventory (they re-imburse us for them), when we ran out of v400's we were required to replace with v220's. It's a comparable phone, the only feature difference is World phone capability. They most likely won't replace w/ a v551 since it includes a nice expensive feature like BT.

The v220 is by far NOT comparable. Especially the screen quality. My friend had a v400 and they gave her a v551 for the insurance exchange.

That's great, but you'll excuse me if I prefer first hand experience to "my friend" stories.

I agree that the v220 isn't exactly comparable, especially as far as quality goes. But when deciding what's comparable insurance companies don't often look at the actual models, they look at specs and feature lists. The cameras are the same, they're both color screens, speakerphones on both, monochrome external disp., etc. etc. just no world bands in one.

Don't take this post the wrong way, I'm just relating MY experience with the insurers that I've dealt with.

Thanks for all the help, yeah a v551 would be nice, the v220 isnt comparable in my opinion, the screen is just horrible, i'd rather stay stuck with a messed up v400. I think a v551 is way more comparable..only new features are 15 second video capture and bluetooth. Well I will file my insurance claim within the next month, so i'll post what insurance claim will gives me..

If there are no refurbished 400's, you WILL get a 551. XBM is my emeny!!!!!! It is not the service that it was cracked up to be. I have more problems with customers and claims than I had before.

My biggest beef with XBM is that they wont send out batteries. Those are supposed to be exchanged in store... but why? Also, what if the customer ordered their phone over the phone or internet? I can't do an RMA on something I never sold!

Exchanged in the store? I work for a COR store and the only batteries that we have on hand are the batteries that come with the phone? I was not aware that we were supposed to do battery swaps... In my market the only ones that can are Technical stores. 😕

According to first-hand experience with Lock/line, they consider the V551 as a 'comparable model', NOT the V220.
