first off the expansion slot is for sony memory stick duo's right? what is the max capacity in the SE, from what i see sony sells them up to 1 GB, will the S710A accept that?

Also what is the headphone jack on the S710A? is it one that i can plug any standard headphones in?

overall hows the quality when listening to mp3's...is it decent? and also how loud is it through headphones comapared to a real mp3 player or a cd player?

mp3 quality is great. And just a question, why get a "wired" headset when you can get a bluetooth headset? 😕

Maybe some people don't want to pay the $ for the BT headset. Some are content w/ a corded headset for the little time that they actually use it.

JUst a suggestion, because with the $20 rebate that is offered in COR stores, you can get a basic BT headset for $49.99 (net $29.99 after rebate), which is only like $10-$15 higher than a regular headset, but that's just me.

If I'm not mistaken, or, if that's the same rebate I think it is, then it is only good if used to purchase the BT headset at the time of activation/upgrade 😕

Check the fine print.

Our rebate forms don't have the contract boxes to check off anymore. 😕

I don't think the current standard of bluetooth supports a high enough bitrate to be able to listen to mp3s. also there isn't a stereo bluetooth headset for cell phones and the market that I have been able to find.

There is indeed a bluetooth stereo headset available. As for listening to mp3's through a normal BT earpiece, the volume is not nearly as loud as it is through a wired one..

Who makes the earpiece? I'm more interested in using it on my computer than my phone... but I still want one.

You guys should check out the Moto HT820. Its not out yet but its a stereo BT headset. If you go to motorola.com then to products and services then phones then click product preview toward the top right of the page...that should open up a separate flash page...when that opens up click "out in the world" or somethin like that and you can view all the products Moto will be releasing soon. The also have the PEBL v8 and the SLVR v6...Check it out...

Maybe I'm crazy, but I think that maybe, based on the rest of the post, that this person was curious about headPHONEs, not a headset.

In that case BT headphones aren't all that prolific at the moment, nor are they very cheap. Moto advertises that they're comin out with a pair of BT stereo headphones that can play music AND handle calls sometime this year, but when is anyones guess.

If he/she was talkin bout a headset then, oops. And maybe they just don't like BT. 😕

exactly, i dont know about the S710a but if they made it similar to the V800/802se/z800i then the headphones are stereo as well as the CORDED hands free (which mine is), and who wants a cheap POS jabra headset?

although i could be wrong about the actual card size that it can take, my v802se (flashed w/ z800i FW) can take up to 1gb cards no problem, no one has tried a 2gb card yet so yeah.....that had nothing to do with your question but i like talking about my phone 😛

That's b/c the Memory stick DUO only goes up to 128mb.

What you're referring to is memory stick DUO PRO which is not supported by the s710a (processor/software issues?)

hmmm i wonder if a firmware update is availible for the phone to make it take a larger card?

I would hope a firmware update would come out to make it able to accept cards larger than 128MB. That amount of memory would get taken up rather quickly with MP3's and photos at 1.3MP.

The answer is no. They are no such updates available at this time. Also there are no plans to make such updates available in the future.

People complain enough about the speed of the os as it is. I can only imagine what the whining would sound like if such an update were made available. The os would end up being even slower probably.
