In response to the "a reply from a dumb customer" replies
this is like the teacher's lounge, and woland is the student who just walked in to see their idealistic views go out the window. This is not an idealistic world... we have to deal with customers on a daily basis, and some of which just don't catch on, which is frusterating. (holy runon sentence batman!)
A lot of this is the fault of other CSR's who don't adequately go through everything with the customer in the first place, thus leaving us to have to fix sometimes hellacious problems, all because the other dealer was either a) out to get a buck (adding 4.99 detailed billing instead of the free one, or 1.99 basic vm rather than the free one). or b) accidentally clicked the wrong SOC code.
Us reps have to deal with a lot of bs comming f...

You are 100% true! 😁 I had a customer yesterday that had a new text message notification icon on his z500a...he said he didn't have any messages and something was wrong with his phone. After shouting at me and telling me I didn't know what I was doing when I told him nothing was wrong with the phone; I very sarcastically walked him through and showed him the unread message, and the icon disappeared. I then smiled at him and told him he could save a trip to my store if he just read the instruction manual. After I put pie all over his face, he left looking like a wet puppy! LOL 😁

I had a similar case with my mom. She and my dad recently changed carriers and got new phones.
Mom- "It says I have two unread messages, but I checked my voicemail, and I don't have any."
Me- "Do you read voicemail?"
Dad- "It means you have a Text Message."
Mom- "What does that mean? How do I read them?"
Me- "Step one is to read the user manual. Step two is to reread it with your phone in hand, following the instructions step-by-step."
Mom- "But I just--"
Dad- "He's right. Read your instruction book, it's why they gave you one."
