Had last 2 customers ask, 'How can I lower my bill?' Since they had GAIT phones, we're able to move them to a GSM Nation plan; saved one guy almost $100 a month, and getting 200 more minutes!

How were gait plans more expensive? Wasnt the siemens s46 a gait phone? I was going to get that when I was signing up, but got a Samsung instead.

The GAIT plans (NATION) anyway were always higher than GSM NATION plans. If you can migrate a customer from a GAIT to a NATION GSM plan you really would be doing them a favor...provided the phone works that is. ALLOVER NETWORK??? 🙄

No the siemens was not a GAIT phone..Only Sony Ericsson T62 (I think that is the model number) and Nokia 6340. Those were the only to GAIT phones available.

With a GAIT phone they still keep the GAIT coverage area. Their phone still picks up GSM and TDMA, only they wont receive roaming charges when they pick up TDMA.

how can their phone pick up a TDMA calling area when the plan does not allow it? at least this was my understanding as to how these plans work explained to me by my friend that works for ATT/Cingular

That was the original way it was set up, but they re-rated the plans back around Novemberish (I may be off on the month) when they did away with the GAIT Nation plans. So from that point on it worked. All that needs to be done is a technology change from TDMA/GAIT to GSM/GAIT, which is really just adding the IMEI from their phone onto the account. The coverage area of GMS is the biggest deal for customers who have held on to GAIT phones, therefore reassuring them that they will retain their GAIT area coverage even on a GSM plan is a wonderful thing. 🙂
