Just wondering if any of you COR reps have heard the vicious rumors about closing locations. I work in WA at my local Wally World 👿, and we keep gettin Wal-Mart employees comin up to us asking "What are you guys gonna do when we take over?", "When are you guys closing down?" etc. The same goes for a bunch of other Wal-Mart locations. We know we're getting shut down, and Wal-Mart is putting in their own "Connect" wireless provider, but our Management (:lol🙂 keeps blowing smoke up our ass when we confront them. As a Union member, I am entitled to at least 30 days notice, but some people are saying next week we'll all be out of jobs. ANYWAY....have any of you guys experienced any similar issues?

In most cases you won't get "fired" or let go of, they will just put you up in another location. I have had stores close in the past and just got transferred. But as for closing locations, the only thing that I have heard is that Cingular is "looking into" closing any "non-branded" agents. And hopefully they will get some sense in their heads and stop having so many stinkin COR stores in the same vicinity... I have 2 COR stores in my mall and another 6 within an 15 minute drive, now that is just CRAZY!

Jackie, is part of that due to the AT&T Merger? I mean, were some of the stores AT&T and some Cingular at one time? Because that could explain it. I have read in my Wall Street Journal that Cingular's plans are to close some COR locations in areas that this is the case.

That's what I am scared of.. I am thinking now that I should have just stayed at my other store... I defeinitely would not have to worry then because that store was the second store put up in my market, and consistantly pushes out numbers... Silly silly me 😢

Has the store that you are currently in always been a Cingular store, or is it a converted AT&T store? Because they are only talking about closing the AT&T converted stores that make a market heavy on stores. Example: In my market, there were never any Cingular stores, so they won't be closing any. However, in your market, there were both Cingular and AT&T, so according to what I have read, they would be closing the ones that were AT&T.

I can only work in Cingular only stores... The company doesn't want to double train us.. But That is a sigh of relief though.. Thank you for making my day a bit more bearable. 😁 And have you talked to Shay at all, I have not seen her in two days, and I know she was sick... I wonder if shes okay... I think I will text her and check up on her in an hour or so.

I have not talked to her in a while. I was busy with my fiancee this weekend. She came finally got to come home. She works in the Cleveland, OH area, so she has to live out there during the week and come home on the weekends. But lately, she has had to put in alot of overtime on weekends (for like the past month or so) so she has not been home. So I spent most of the weekend with her. It was fun.... 😉
Definately nice to see her and spend some quality time with her.

That is not completely true. I have a friend that is a legacy orange store manager and she has an legacy blue store 7 doors down from her and last week her area manager was down for a meeting and didn't even stop at her store. I just think regardless if you were blue or orange that we all feel like we're getting screwed.
...
I completely understand your frustration. I was simply stating what I have read in the Wall Street Journal pertaining to Cingular's plans on store consolidation after the merger. I don't work in the industry, so I wouldn't know for sure.

😈 I see I'm going to have to resort to desparate measures to get fired 😈 I've just about had enough of CINGULAR!

I believe that they are closing the stores that put out the least amount of numbers. It is either do or die. It is the same way with RSA's, MSA's, etc. Do your job, or get replaced by ATT.

Boy that sure seems to be the anthem here in Washington. We just claim that there is no way Orange could have bought Blue, because everybody who has been replaced has been orange. I don't know if that is in every market, but it sure seems to be the way in mine 😢 😢 😢
