I Finally Migrated, Now I Have Questions

So Now I am a Cingular customer.... HOORAY!

The rep in the store did not answer a couple questions clearly...

How does rollover work? I would like a link to an official explanation if possible.

I added text messaging. She said the first month was free w/ unlimited messages. In regards to the free month-Is this only free for the prorated month? In regards to the unlimited messaging-Is this only until my bill cycle closes on the 1st?

Finally, I got 2 V220's & the phonescoop.com description says- Also includes haptics and "fun lights".

I know haptics is the bass chord for ringtones, but what are "fun lights"?

Thank You!!!!!!

Well in regard to the text messaging you get the first full month unlimited.. So IE: if you activated it on 03/12/2005 its unlimited until 04/12/2005.

As for the rollover its a rolling 12 month cycle. so if you acummulate 200 rollover mins in march, its good until march of next year. your rollover mins. are always used last so if you go over your alloted daytime mins, the system will then take out your rollover mins. what mos people will do is save up alot of rollover mins and then lowere there plan down. Once they begin to lose there rollover mins they'll raise there plan back up .

So lets say I have 200 leftover mins in March & 350 mins left over in April, then I would have 550 minute to use for overage in May? Is this right?

Do you have to agree to a new contract to change your plan? Or can you change it without penalty like T-Mobile?

Question 1: Yes...
Question 2: Yes, you can change it but if you are more than half way through they wouldlike for an extension of 12 months from the time you change... That does not effect the time you can change the phones just the time you are with us as a company 🙂

As for Fun Lights... Your guess is as good as mine. 😁

Hope this helps you out a bit.

Ok, am I understanding you right? You're saying, that if I want to change my rate plan, I have to agree to be with Cingular an extra 12 months? I was never told any of this and I have changed rate plans a few times. I was also never sent anything to sign agreeing to those terms. It may be something new though, since I haven't changed plans in a few months.

Or maybe we're on different pages.

legally you don't have to sign anything to agree to a one-year contract. a rep may have "forgotten" to tell you though....

You know, I think you may be wrong on that. As soon as I get my business law book back, I'm going to check. I think if it is over a year, the terms of the contract have to be in writing and signed by the person having the contract enforced on. For example, if you're trying to enforce me to stay on the contract or pay the ETF, it must be signed by me. If I'm trying to force Cingular to do something written in the contract, Cingular has to sign it (letterhead or logo will be fine).

No, David, don't misconstrue it... The one year extension is to get promotions... You can change the plan just no promotions. 🙂

well legally when you call in to do a Rate plan change and there is a contract extension, Customer Care has to sign you up for an 11 month contract because it is a verbal contract and there is nothing to be sighned. That is how they get by the federal laws on contractual agreements.

The ONLY time you HAVE TO agree to an 11-month verbal committment is when you take a rate plan WITH a 'promotional' item. At this time, the ONLY promo item out there is Unlimited Mobile-to-Mobile.

So very confusing... If I were to change my rate plan and it happens to have Unlimited M2M, I have to verbally agree to an 11-month committment? All of the rate plans have that, I believe, maybe not cheapest one, though.

Not all Rate Plans have Mobile 2 Mobile. You can get the Plan without that and without an agreement.

All the "promotional" plans have M2M, you can get the same minutes on a rate plan tier, but without the M2M and it becomes non-promotional.

Ok, but, let's say I change my plan to the one right below mine, but it still has M2M, I have to agree to be with Cingular for 11 more months?
