So I went to cingular.com to find out what my monthly bill will be & I am suprised at the amount of taxes. My plan is as follows:

Line 1- FT9NATP1100RUMMUNW- $69.99
Line 2- FT9NATP1100RUMMUNW- $9.99
Line 3- FT9NATP1100RUMMUNW- $9.99
Line 1- Txt Msg Promo 200- $4.99
Line 2- Txt Msg Promo 200- $4.99
Line 1- MEdiaNet3MBPromo- $9.99
Subtotal: $109.94

My montly bill will be $130 for 3 lines. The amount of taxes will be over $20

Does anyone think this a bit high?

That's pretty good, I always estimate it at about $7 per line ($21). Glad to know my estimations hold well.

Why are there so many different taxes though? This would represent a 20% tax rate.

She is brain dead. She has been in a vegetative state for the past 15 years. Numerous scans have show her brain to be partially liquid including the part that controls pain. This means that it cannot regenerate so she is not going to get better.

Ignoring this and pretending that she's completely coherent and just unable to communicate and control her body... do you think she enjoys living as a piece of furniture? Would you?

It's horrible that she has to starve to death because of the anti assisted suicide laws but I don't think it would be a stretch to say that most everyone would prefer a weeks worth of pain (argumentative) over years of suffering as a vegetable.

I hope she's put to rest soon.

And to quell tho...

👿 On the one hand I am appalled that the courts can decide on such matters rather than letting her parents take care of her as they are willing to do. On the other hand and I'm probably going to get rapped in the mouth for this, but I'm a Sith Lord and don't care this woman wouldn't be in the sorry state she's in now if she hadn't been a bolimic, I despise bolimics and people with anorexia as weak and stupid and Ms Schivao is only getting what she apparently wanted a slow painful death. Do I agree with how they're diong it? To have an armed guard in her room to make sure her parents don't even give her a thimble of water sounds like something from a death camp in WWII, but she was the one who kept sticking her finger down her throat unt...

WHOA!! while I agree that this isn't the appropriate place for talk on the Schaivo case (let the poor woman die for pete's sake), was the EXTREME emphasis neccessary?

Can't we all just disagree calmly? 😁

It doesnt work that way here. Rich Brome would agree. If he saw this here, he would ask it to be moved as well.

If there is a need to talk about the Shiavo Case, please take it to the lounge. I do not like wasting my time by searching through unrelated matters to find useful information.

I've been here for a while, and yes I know Rich would do the same thing. Hell I've done it too on many occasions. (I'm also bad about yelling at people for tryin to sell stuff, as the T&C of the site clearly states it's not to be used for commerce). But it's just simple net ettiquette. Calmly first...if they're asses about it then yell to your heart's content.

it is a bit high... But a lot on the tax side has to do with where you are located... As silly as it sounds, used to live in Philadelphia and my husbands phone when we lived in Philadelphia was $66.00 with tax on a $49.99 plan with insurance and text plan, but when we moved to the 'burbs it went down to $59.00 a month.. And that was a moved of literally 7 miles down the road. Kooky huh?

Yeah, it should be the same with any carrier within the same region. It's state and federal taxes, as well as those lovely governmentally instituted fees.

Anybody feel up to a discussion about what those "fees" go to?

Eh, it'd be an arguement against the government so I doubt anyone would be personally offended. I heard once that the "Universal Service Fund" was to give Native Americans landline service. I doubt that, but it's a better theory than I've heard so far. 🙂

The Federal Universal Service Fund (USF) provides telecommunications and information services to schools, libraries and rural health care facilities. It also helps subsidize local service to high-cost areas and low-income households. Among other things I'm sure...

usually, since I deal with PA/NJ/NYC/DE, I estimate 25% for taxes for the NYC market area, and 20% everywhere else, then drop a buck for every $50 (FRU) for the MRCs. It's pretty close, but still I end up over-estimating the taxes; rather over- than under-estimate... 😁

I always love the people that call in and complain about the taxes or talk about it when they're talking to their friends. These are usually the same people that continue to vote for these candidates. Your phone companies don't just add these fees to your bill for fun. We don't just add them to see how many people will call and ask about them. Most of these charges are mandated by YOUR local and fed governments. You should be asking them these questions. Why are my taxes so high? Why do I bend over every time I go fill up for gas? etc etc

👿 Because none of you will tell the govt, where to stick their excessive taxes. Let's face it, this generation will put up with anything as long as it says FEDERAL GOVT> on it. None of the politicians, be they Dem or Rep is looking out for you. Do you really think it matters who won the presidential election? Or who you voted for? Look at us poor dumb Illinois residents that voted Blagojovic into office and now suffer outrageous tax hikes and toll fees.Who in this forum is making enough to actually enjoy their paycheck before Uncle Sam comes in and b%$#h slaps you. And then we have Union dues for all my CINGULAR brothers and sisters out there! Whwere does it end?

I'm with ya on the paycheck thing....I got a raise in Jan. and I'm actually takin home LESS than I was before thanks to taxes. I get my regular b*tch slap every other Friday, get bent over and f-ed senseless the 20th of every month (commission's taxed like 26%, then medicare state). It's a wonder I can even pay my bills. God help me if I were a COR employee with the union dues and all that crap.

You never know. I heard that when they receive 7 letters/calls/emails on the same subject they consider it a lot and actually look into it. If more people actually get angry and do stuff, either the congressman would be voted out or he would follow the people he was voted to represent to keep his job.

It's less than I pay. I pay ~25% for all taxes and surcharges. (Base rate $29.99 with taxes and surcharges I pay ~$37.46 each month)
