so it's bad enough that you can't get gmail on any at&t phones (it's 2009 you know). and no i didn't say pda's, i said phones and at&t makes sure that phones and pda's aren't confused becuase one cost $15.00 a month more to have the same data access... but now they are said to be releasing an android phone and have removed all google apps except maps and market, AND put a big ass yahoo search bar on the main screen. talk about a bunch of idiots. how is a company ran on such a low iq???

u know how people are when they end one relationship and start another...they go for the exact opposite right??? assuming this is legit and att really did pull all the google apps off the device and fill it with there own crap, following the relations ship standards that would make sence. att let apple have total control of the iphones os and had no say in the "relationship", so now they got a new shot with android and this time att decided that they wanna where the pants and they have say in what stays and goes. 😕

problem is that at&t has been this way... i remember back in cingular days when they made motorola take out ringtones off phones so they could push selling them. apple is the only one they haven't been able to bully around. even with blackberry they push 6 or 7 things with service books that you can't delete, only hide. and they take out the email client on moto and sony phones to put their crappy mobile email on so people can't get real email and push them into a pda. at&t all around is just shy of crooked.

I think there has always been a java based gmail app for phones that you can download. Its been a while since I used it but it is still available. Its better than at&t's mobile email app by far too.

but they hack the java profile so that way you have to 'grant access' each time it refreshes.

The problem is that they specifically leave it off their email client they put on the phones even though there are versions of mobile email that have it. They even go so far to block the app google makes just to keep their customers from accessing gmail so they can either push yahoo or push people into a pda even though the phone is capable of doing it. Why do they go through so much trouble to keep their customers from doing anything with their phone? They remove any email client a manufacture may put in a phone just to put mobile email, and they know they are putting an inferior product on there.

you should know that Verizon cripples their phones which is why ATT follows suit.. Just look at the Droid.... oh yeah, never mind.

LOL. Actually ATT is much worse than Verizon is. And I don't have either but I do know from experience.

Android is a partnership with Google. Why would Google participate in this if AT&T is going to wipe out its applications? I do not think Verizon really wanted to include Google Voice but it is Android. You have to leave it in there.
