IMEI number

I just recently got a new V551 from Cingular to replace my old V400. I plan on selling my V400.

When I put my SIM card into the V551 or any phone other than my V400, it shows the "My number XXX-XXX-XXXX" on the screen when I power up the phone. But it doesn't do that at all with my SIM card in the V400 (it shows the number when I put my friend's SIM card in).

Does Cingular have my IMEI number assoicated with my wireless number?

Do I need to let Cingular know that I am selling the phone?

Thanks.

When you switched phones, the imei on your account would have been changed to the v551 imei so you dont need to let cingular know that you are selling the v400. Honestly, it doesnt really matter, just sell it.

The IMEI just is a way for us to know what phone you are using etc.. not important at all.

Unless you have insurance..... and want you new phone to be covered.. we need the IMEI so it will cover the new phone.. not the old
