My rant for the day revolves around a customer that just left my store.

She wants an upgrade (which she's eligible for) and a new line. FINE I'll be happy to help ya! BUT what she didn't mention is that after everything I say she's gonna call up her niece out of state (who's apparently a Cingular rep) and second guess EVERYTHING right in frickin front of me. I offer 2 z500's for $89.99 BEFORE rebates and she calls to find out if it's a good deal....then complains, loudly, that I'm not gonna GIVE her any accessories. Now maybe I'm nutty, but that sounds like a pretty damned good deal. Then you want me to GIVE you accessories?!?!?!?! No thanks, I like having a job.

So she finally decides she's gonna get 2 6010's (even though she'...

I work in a pretty high volume store, and there's a line of customers usually, so when a customer I am helping decides to answer a call while I am helping them, I skip right to the next person. Occasionally I get an upset customer, but that is their own fault. I explain to them that I will help them as soon as I am done with the customer I have moved on to. Many repeat customers have learned to just not answer the phone while being helped, which is what I consider to be polite.

Unfortuneately, I see that everyday... I had a gentleman huffing and puffing like the big bad wolf, because I would not help him until he was off the phone... Now who is the inconsiderate one there?

I agree! just my two cents but I put a sign by my desk that says "common courtesy is to not answer your phone while a representitive is helping you. We don't answer our phones while helping you so please extend us the same courtesy." and if they do, it shows they really don't want your service, they want a beg and call boy/girl. "Sorry folks but the I give a damn train left a long time ago." 🙂 some peoples kids 😁

I think the courteous customers are still there, just like in any business. However, the wireless industry gets more and more customers and all the ignorant people are "coming out of the woodwork" so to speak. It's really unfortunate that we get those people sometimes, just try to ignore them, then come on here and vent about it 🤣

Update: The witch went to the nearest corporate store, complained, and that rep called me to let me know how my boss would be notified of my rudeness (what!?!?) and that he now has my activation.

Professional Courtesy? Even amongst reps?

So, let me understand this? Do you work for a corporate store? Or an agent?

If you work for an agent, I would understand her wanting to consult her niece if her niece worked directly for the company. But she should have at least had the courtesy to walk away and call and then come back to you to complete the sale. I see no reason either way for her to be saying you gave her bad service. You just did what any salesperson would do if they were being ignored by the customer because of a phone call.

Some People.... 😈

I'm an agent, but the fact is that she was ignoring me. When I'm alone in the store I have to field EVERY customer, if one's ignoring me then I go to the next one. It's one thing to second guess someone, that's a smart shopper, to do it in front of them is rude. To go to another store and tell them that I was lying about their store (did I leave that part out?).....

Then for that next rep to call me up and berate me like he was my boss, or better than me in some way (by the way I get MANY complaints about their store on a daily basis). And to talk trash, talkin' bout "I've got your activation now". Uncalled for.

I agree with your complaints completely. I was simply attempting to state that if you are an agent (which I now know you are), that I can see why she would have wanted to consult her niece. However, she should have definately conducted her actions in a more adult and professional manner.

And the other rep is simply a prick. 😈

If she made you out to be the bad guy, they might have... I know that COR reps tend to not "like" agents, cause we feel alot of the times that we are alwayus fixing issues from one agent or another, which takes away from our selling time, and ultimately away from our pockets being as fat as they used to be. I know its wrong, but now we aren't just fighting for you guys for activations anymore, now in most cases we are fighting with the other company store that is right next to us now too. Now I personally only get like that when I see added features or just blatant disregard for the customer... But that is me though, and I am sorry they are so mean to you because you seem like you do your job well.

Profession courtesy is extended from one professional to another, not from one professional to a customer. Did I miss something? You were talking to the customer in front of you, correct?

Okay, courtesy and respect goes across the board. To get it you need to give it... A customer who is rude won't be helped as well as someone who does... I know in a perfect world it would not work that way, but in a perfect world, customers would not be rude to us either. 🙄

I am considered a customer for these purposes and I dont think it was wrong for her to do a consult, it is just as if the niece were in the store. She SHOULD'T HAVE taken up so much time with the one rep who had to run the store though.

And you all are not the most respectfull people either. Giving us misinformation and the run around because you don't know how to do what is to be done to service our account.

There was never a question of giving incorrect information. And it isn't as if her neice was in the store- the customer steps away to call her niece on the phone, while still expecting to get the Sales Associate's full attention when she wasn't giving hers. I'd have to side with Disturbed here. It doesn't sound like he did anything wrong, and did his best to remain professional and helpful to his other customers as well.

Goodness sakes 😳 I understand that in agent store (which is what I work in) We have certain leniancy for handling escalated situations, but being "rude" to a customer and having them come back to yell at you is very very very bad business. That creates a bad reputation and creates hell for referals. Maybe in your area or your company it is an "ok" thing to practice but in the real retail and business world, that is what tanks companies. That is just my opinion, I don't mean to offend you or anyone with this post, I'm just in shock to hear that stuff occurs in stores 😕

OH... I'm sorry 🤭 I think I may have misunderstood what you were saying. I thought you were saying that you intentionally are rude to customers and if they ask for a manager or sup that he excuses your rudeness. i'm sorry, It's sad I think that humans in general think that if they cry loud or long enough that we as sales reps can change everything and anything just for them. I think it is a disease. I will call it.... "Assaphluenza"!! 🤣 good times 😁

I used to work at a local Kroger grocery store here in NE Indiana. We had a lady come through using special food stamps for mothers that allow you buy certain items in certain sizes and quantities for your baby (otherwise known as WIC checks, i think its just an indiana thing). She wanted to get the Kraft cheese slices that were made with 2% milk instead of the fat free which is program allows, but the 2% is not allowed. She threw the biggest fit I've ever seen an adult throw, full on crying, the works. We (the store manager, the cashier and myself (the bagger)) were using calm voices, and she thought we were trying to belittle her and mock her for needing government assistance, but that was not the case, we were simply trying to explain...

hehe. I had a friend on WIC in Tennessee, too, but she had enough sense to just go to the store right next to the place where she got the WIC vouchers, as that store only carried WIC approved stuff.
