My mother in law has nextel, and if she puts her phone in the middle of her desk, she can get phone calls, but if she moves it anywhere else, all her calls are routed straight to her voicemail. Plus, when I call my friend (he has nextel) it only rings 1-2 times before going to his voicemail. Just because their coverage sucks so bad. Maybe the sprint merger will beneift them...

what coverage. It's a walkie-talkie at best.

You think all of Nextel's coverage is just like the idiocy that occurred on your mother's desk? Why the hell are we having this conversation in THIS forum?
...
that has nothing to do with their coverage. if she is on the direct connect or on the internet it goes straight to her voicemail. doesnt mean the coverage is so bad as you claim. if it was so bad their churn and arpu and lifetime revenue per user wouldnt be leading all providers. (cept for churn by a few basis points to vzw)
...
No the point to fight on that is because they have a niche Most people on Nextel do not realize that they don't receive calls because they are still able to get their direct connect. Keep that in mind that is their niche right now.
...
actually most people do know that if they are on direct connect they wont receive calls. becuase then they would see that they would be getting voicemails.
...
What I am saying is that if you don't get calls and you are not on direct connect you don't realize it because nothing is happening... Get my drift?
...
"What I am saying is that if you don't get calls and you are not on direct connect you don't realize it because nothing is happening... "
this doesnt make sense.
...
How would you know that you miss a call if your phone does not ring and they opt not to leave you a message because they just don't want to? Get it now?
...
alright. i dont see the point with that.
...
alright.. whats your point? lol.. they can always text you. but anyway, i dont see your point lol... you would rather be on the 2 way with verizon, or sprint and then someone will call then interupt your conversation? i wouldnt.
...
Yeah to recieve anything other than the direct connect there needs to be signal. Like I said I am speaking of experience. And yeah because I realize that not everyone in the world had PTT and if there is something important I would want it to come through.
...
i wouldnt. if you are talking to someone its on a one on one converstation. its the same if 2 people talk face to face then someone just cuts right infront of them. its rude and thats why there is privacy.
...
That's you... You are probably like all the people that walk around at the mall screaming in their two-way conversations making everyone else in the world listen to it... Just the reason that I think that PTT is useless. And no, if was important I think it is more than worth it. But then again I may just have more things to worry about that you do and that's why I wouldn't mind.
...
no thats not just me. thats also 16+ million nextel people who wants privacy. i dont walk around letting people listening to my conversations, i put the handset accessory on so people wont hear it.
push to talk isnt for everyone. i think if it wasnt that important then sprint and verizon wouldnt be doing it as well as other carriers who have rolled it out or who are rumored too. why do it if they have m2m? thats my question.
...
so then let me ask you this... what is the difference between two waying somebody with a handset accessory and using a regular cell phone... đ đŗ đ˛
...
not sure. i dont deal with those kinds of things. sorry.
...
There is no difference then.
...
alrighty..... i dont see the point of that.
...
Because you make the PTT is the "greastest thing since sliced bread" and the way that you use is is no different than anyone in here using a regular cell phone thats why. So you are basically using a regular cell phone with nothing else on it.
...
i see. well direct connect doesnt cost as much as regular mins and takes up i belive 1/25th or something of that sort of the tower space and spectrum, instead of regular calling. thats why direct connect mostly works well when your calling doesnt. ie 9/11 âšī¸
...
I have never once had a problem connecting...
...
with nextel i have never had a problem with connecting with sprint's and verizon's new and old one i had many problems with a lot of latency and connecting.
the push to talk market belongs to nextel, while the m2m market belongs to cingular, sprint, verizon, and tmobile. they shouldnt enter the push to talk market just like nextel isnt entering the m2m market becuase that would be a dumb idea.
...
"why do it if they have m2m? thats my question."
So they can steal the 16+ million Nextel cusotmers who actually use PTT and would actually like to recieve their calls successfully at the same time.
...
so far it didnt work.
...
đ Dude she's trung to say Nextel sucks! Make sense?
...
I have had it up to here with some of these people coming in here always talking about churn. Nextel is a mostly business used product, for its walkie talkie feature and walkie talkie feature only. They do not have a large base of non-business customers so they should have a higher than usual arp and low churn rate. Only 2 other carriers offer the PTT feature and it is fairly new to them. The offering of services is garbage to the non-business customer. Whatever their churn rate is, that is not enough to deal with 1 decent phone a year, a dinosaur TDMA network, and a merger with a company whose network is not compatible. You have no decent arguments in here, try one of the smaller carrier forums like Metro PCS or something.
...
Well, those customers are very loyal to Nextel, so it counts. Alltel, Verizon, and sprint have all launched their push to talk system and over a few years, they dont have much of a market in that market.
I have plenty of arguments. By the way Nextel's iden 800mhz that is contiguous can be easily transformed into cdma which will be happening and same with their towers.
Sorry.
...
DUDE SHUT UP NO ONE LIKES A WANNA-BE "KNOW IT ALL"
...
there you go now.
capitilize, screaming, whinning, sad, upset etc...
i feel bad for you now.
...
That's nice, maybe it should be on the Nextel forum. Instead of putting it on this one and trying to flame bate Nextel18's dumbass, who of course will fall right into it.
