I know this is dumb, but I've had 2 customers want to share 2 phones on 1 line, kind of like a traditional house phone with extensions. This is impossible, right?

Nope, can't do it.

(Suddenly, I just had a mental flash of Dana Carvey as George Bush- "Not gonna do it, wouldn't be prudent....")

Not on GSM. MAYBE on TDMA, but that's considered cloning...

Actually it can be done, on GSM. It just won't get done anymore. For Cingular in the DCS area (that was always GSM)it was a common thing, but is not done anymore. If a customer still has it, they can keep it as long as they don't change their phone. It was also done in south Florida for awhile. Not sure of other markets, but I do know those for sure.

Just how did they do it then... Just a question, not doubting you... How did the "circuit complete"?

This feature is still available in Texas, the customer has to pay for two seperate plans. But you can have two phones ring on the same number. Can be used if you want to have one phone in the car and one hand held. Learned in CSE training. 😛
