my choice Verizon+internet or Cingular+Bluetooth
I really don't want this thread to turn into which provider is "better".
I have been a Verizon customer since they formed.
My plan has expired. I am free. 😁
I REALLY want to use bluetooth with my enabled Apple Powerbook. There are several reasons. First off I lose my phone every six months on average and with it go all my contacts and everything on it. Also I would like to be able to simply DL my phone's contents - pictures, recordings, etc.. and UL new tones, wallpapers, etc.
I can switch to Cingular and get a GSM phone with functional bluetooth. Which phone? Nokia 6230 won't hold up to the abuse of a carpenter like my LG clamshell. The 551 or V3? ok.. so I end up picking a Cingular phone and go with them so I can wireless...

It's "crippledness" still has not been removed to the point of what this person would need it to be.
i bet it could be solved by a new version of the firmware......
For what he is using it for, his only VZW bluetooth option would be a PDA phone.
not sure how it woould work with a Mac. our Connection Manager software is only for PC, and i'm a PC guy, so you'd know more than i would on that.

from what you have said, it soulds like going with Cingular would be the choice that would give you less hassles. no hacking required to use our stuff for what you want.

Forget the Razr and go with the Sony Ericsson s710a. It has bluetooth and EDGE (high speed data network) which is comparable (somewhat) to VZW's EV-DO and its only a little bit more than the Razr. You can use it as a high speed modem through bluetooth and while its paired with your computer you can sync your contacts and other media as well. I came from Verizon and had the v710. I had to hack it just so I could get it the way I wanted and its not worth it to be honest.
OMFG did you just say that EDGE is almost as fast as EV-DO? what are you smoking? EV-DO is WAY faster then EDGE, and if the guy has been on service with the company that long, i am sure he can get the phone for a nice pr...
