Deposit/Reund question

mmcnier

Apr 5, 2005, 12:33 PM
When I started service with ATTWS in 2004, I had top put down a deposit of $200. I was told that I would get it back after a year, or if I cancelled, it would just be applied toward my bill. Well, I migrated to Cingy & now attws.com shows a credit due to me for the deposit.

Question:
Will the credit be rolled over to my Cingular account or will I be sent a refund. If sent, how long will this take?

No it will not be moved over to your Cingualr acct. Waht you will need to do is to call ATT and request a refund of your deposit and they will cut you a check and mail it to you.

Usually just as long as your local mail service!

i'm not sure if patty is 100% correct.

My manager told me that they are going to be crediting the new account # after the migration, if qualify. Please let me know what they say i'm curious to know. thanks.

Sorry your manager is wrong, what happens is this the credit will stay on the att account for 14 days, then customer can request refund since they can't transfer from the att system to cingular system, so within 30-60 of request you would receive refund check

Is this an exception for former ATTWS customers? The reason I am asking is because I thought that Cingular ALWAYS credited the customers account.

However, since it's two separate billing systems, it cannot be done.

Which is REALLY annoying. I thought that everything was being converted to the same billing system.

It will be converted, but time is needed. One thing to remember, Cingular itself still had multiple systems BEFORE the purchase. They are still in the process of moving from (I think) 8 systems to one from the original Cingular formation in 2001.

Good luck.

As far as I know, it'll be refunded to you in the form of a check. If Receivables Management handles it (most likely), you can say hello to a 4-6 week waiting period. Just wanna set your expectations 😁

The credit must remain on the account for 30 days after it is canceled.

Then the process for the refund begins. In total its 6-8 weeks. Most likely 6 weeks (From the date you cancel)

I called customer care last night & had sever people check to make sure. I have 2 options:

1. Roll the balance over to my Cingular account & it will just be used towards future incidentals. This would take up to 10 business days.

2. Contact Receivables Management & have them cut me a check, which can take 4-6 weeks.

But thanks for the info guys! You all are a great help!

I have to say... Not that bad. It is only $82 I was expecting worse. If I had not been charged the $18 upgrade fees for all 3 lines, it would have been $28. I am going to call today to transfer my credit from ATTWS to Cingular. I wonder how much an actual month of service is going to be....

im glad your first bill wasnt high but you wont be able to get any credits transfered from at&t to cingular since out billing systems are seperate. You'll need to call at&t and get your credit mailed out to you in a check. 😕 sorry

Sometimes customer service can be hit or miss. I called yesterday & 3 people told me that they can rollover my credit from ATTWS to Cingular. I called today to do it & 2 people told me the same. When the girl went to do it, she put me on hold for 20 minutes. When she came back, she said that the Resolution Specialists said it was impossible. I hate it when customer care doesn't take the time to research something & give correct info. 👿

So now I have to go through the process of driving to the bank (which is across town), wait in line for forever, deposit the refund, go home, get online & give them the money right back. Ugh 😡 This could have been alot more simple if they had...

I agree, but with (now) 4 different billing systems/programs, it's a PITA to do things like that easily... 🤭

and just to make you a little more frustrated it'll probably take a few weeks for your refund to get to you. as in all jobs theres good reps and bad reps but we do try.
