Tower location

Is it possible to find out the tower location by my house? Signal tends to be marginal where I live.

full coverage for that zip. as you go west, it starts to lower a bit. it's "Blue" towers, so they are 1900 mhz, which don't penetrate as good.

No wonder signal sucks. That area is geographically unsound. So many hills here, they block signal like crazy. They should suild a tower right off 115 & Cheyenne Mtn Blvd.

Location of our towers is proprietary and should not be discussed in forums or on the phone. Any such shared information can result in termination.

With that said:

In order to build a tower somewhere, we, or someone we have a contract with has to own that land, or have a leasing agreement with the owner of that land. Also, there are MANY zoning and placement laws to consider.

i didnt give out a street name or an address, just a vicinity, and now that i think about it, i gave out the location of the "center" of 80906, not the tower...i can't see tower locations. 🤭

Until the MTI map became available it was hard just to get a tier2 support person to tell you a tower location. This is a very true statement. No carrier wants word out on tower locations due to vandalism issues.

Although, giving covered geographical areas is okay, otherwise the MTI map wouldn't be available whatsoever!

Guess what, the reps still can't tell me anything useful! The last thing on my mind is vandalism. It would be helpful to know if this service is a wild goose chase for me, or one I should give serious consideration to. I take contracts seriously. No sense in signing one that will be useless!

Don't try to act all authoritative. If i wanted to, I could just drive around my neighborhood & look for a fake tree. Trust me, i know what the towers look like here. The one on Monument Hill is SO OBVIOUS.

Plus i worked for T-Mobile, so i know how they are visually designed. Like the ones in AX, they look like Cactus'. Or the one that looks like a cow... Come one people.

Many states have the "Nature Acts" where they have to blend the tower in with its surroundings. Here, they kinda look like trees, but not really. Its really just a brown pole with fake branches. The cactuses are more realistic. And the cow looks hillarious

nope, we dont get tower locations with our tool, just coverage. basically if you are in a "high coverage" area you are somewhere near a tower (usually 2 miles or under)

but to answer as much as i can, you are in a medium coverage area on Orange (850 mhz), High coverage with Blue (1900 mhz), with some high coverage Orange areas around you. keep in mind, i am going by the "center" of that zip code, which is listed as near the corner of N. Olcott Ave and W. Wilson Ave.

i only know how to find it out with nextel, but with cingular, i belive you call them up, and ask them how close are you to a tower. sometimes, the "signal" or "bars" means not much if you are close to a tower or not. my reasoning for that is becuase sometimes you can have full signal and be 5 miles away form the tower. (so your not really near it)

hope that helps.

🤣 🤣

That reminds me of this lady from last night. She called in to dispute some intl roaming in Bermuda. She tried to tell me she was in Miami and she 'must have grabbed a tower from Bermuda'... 🙄

No, this lady was being serious. She swore up and down that she stayed in Miami, stated she was allergic to salt water...

Had to tell her she was SOL, tho. Her phone, whether she had it or a friend had it (she didn't take the Fraud hint... 😉 ), went to Bermuda, and called back to the States; all the calls were on the same day.

Doesn't stuff show up like that if the number is stolen? I've heard of peeps getting calls made in CA when they're in TX. What happened was someone was using their number out there to reroute the calls, something like that, but that's what I heard, don't know if it's true. I was told by a Cingular rep, a few years back, that I was using a tower in Brownsville, TX, while I was in Alice, TX, and that's why my signal was so poor. Brownsville is 150 miles from Alice.

Well Cloaning was a big problem with the old ATT TDMA phones or digital phones if you prefer. But with GSm Claoning is almost impossible due to the ammount of tech. that is put into the system. There has only been one succesful Cloan with a GSM phone in that was performed by Cingular themselves.

You would think that with the amount (cost-wise) it takes to do cloning, it would be cheaper to just sign up for regular service.

yes, i know. that is why its good if the carrier has 850/800 and 1.9ghz so it would be a lot easier.
