Company vs Company blah blah

Hello Moto

I guess it goes without showing that anyone here can boast and brag about the carrier of their choice. Verizon trumps Cingular in some things, Cingular trumps Verizon on others, T- Mobile has advantages over Sprint, Nextel can claim a bigger customer base than AllTel, Metro PCS can say they offer better yada yada than Sun Com, but what it all boils down to is once you start arguing over who’s who in the wireless business there are so many factors to take into consideration that after so many flame wars and personal attacks each other, it tends to make for very unpleasant experience for users of Phonescoop. Yes there is a such thing as debate and even intelligent arguing, but most of you need to learn how to post informative, intellectual pos...

i disagree with some people and i prove why with facts, evidence, past things, and they bash me and call me names etc.. that is what i am asking for, just for a nice civil debate.

cingular's problems are becuase of their 2 differnt parents? oh come on thats no excuse. so verizon wireless has 2 differnt parents and they are doing quite well.

cingular ahd to go thorugh a whole technology change. From TDMA to GSM and all the growing pains that come with that. Customers had to change phones then not get the same coverage they ahd on TDMA. they got upgraded to less coverage that continues to be a problem. The gap would be alot more smaller if Cingular and AT&T both were GSM from the start.

yes customers that had tdma phones will be upset at first with switching to gsm. After the initial "my phone does not work in the basement now " they get over it and in the long run appreciate the new handset that they have!

Like I said the GSM overlay and the overall differance between the technologies have caused complaints to go up. A TDMA signal reaches further out from the tower than a GSM signal. If u are in a rural area where coverage is not that great anyway GSM will be really tough on you.

i work on the front lines for cingular. You just don't know a lot of the problems with cingular are because of technology change. If u knew anything about cellular billing and billing systems u would understand but u don't.

I am just speaking the truth technology changes and rollover mintues are tough on any billing system. Billing is a 110% better now than what it used 2 be. The system problems have been addressed what I see is mostly human error billing issues those are easy to fix.

oh no, i understand that billing has been better, but it needs to be a lot better especially since cingular/att wireless caters to 50 million subscribers and probably at the rate of an increase of 5 million per year. i want to see what the churn is for this year as well as the complaints, then we can decide if billing has been improving or not. so far, we cant make that assessment.

I know first hand and our churn rate has gone down a lot. Our customer service is a a little up and down we can defintly do better in that area. I think overall our first quarter will suprise u Nextel18. I think u have been so stuck ont he smallest number of the 50 million customers that we serve complaints.

yea, i dont think cingular's 1q sub growth would suprise me. cingular as well as other companies have a lot of work to do, but cingular has the most work to do becuase of most complaints and their churn is high. complaints says alot. especially buying out a company shows both negative reasons and positive reasons. the positive reasons are obviously, spectrum, towers, and subscriber growth. however, the negative would be that they cant grow on their own, they cant buy out any spectrum and towers so they buy.

we will see in the next 20 years or so.

I'd like to take this opportunity to say that I think Cingular sucks.

Thank you for your time.
