ATTWS charged for transferring stuff via Bluetooth and Infrared?? 😳 Someone posted on a different board claiming that their website states it, but I have yet to find where!

No I never saw a bill with charges because of that! If so I want the number to look it up and see proof.

Holy crap! 😲 It is true, I found it on attwireless.com!! 😳

It says, "*** Unlimited referes only to usage on your device. Connection to another device or computer via cable, Bluetooth, or infared will be charged $.001 per KB."

This is fine print under the mMode plans section, allt he way at the bottom. No bullshit.

Hmm..I wonder how long ago they started that. Not once did I see that when I was still taking blue calls.

But ya sorta figure, the size of the files people transfer via infrared and/or bluetooth, at a rate of .001 cents, wouldnt amount to much. Unless they were connected tot heir laptop via BT or infrared, that could get expensive. I'm glad Cingular didn't adopt that.

that is if you are tethering your phone and basically using it as a modem/gateway to the internet for another device. you can bluetooth files back and forward to other devices all you want, the charged come into play on the internet side of it.

/agree

There's no way for them to track the usage of your phone features. That'd be like them billing you for everytime you play a ringtone on your phone. Bluetooth and IR files transfers are not billable. Only things using the service providers network can be billed.

You guys are way off base here. They are referring to people that want to try to cheat their way out of a wireless internet plan by signing up for the unlimited mMode data package. There is no possible way for a carrier to monitor your bluetooth or infrared usage. This was done so people wouldn't buy a Nokia 6200 and spend $25/month to make their laptop wireless instead of getting an EDGE Card and the wireless internet plans. This is not to keep people from passing ringtones or pictures via bluetooth or infrared.

Take things in context and use some common sense!
