SE z500a battery life...

Am new Cingular customer, as of April 6. Did boatload of research before selecting phones for wife and I, and prevailing opinion/evidence was that the z500 had at least a 5 hour talk time and more often than not a 10 hour tt was listed.

Received phones, and box lists 3.5 hour tt. Wife and I are realizing that ACTUAL tt is no where near 10 hour reported talk time. Is there a phone that I can use with Cingular that has better ACTUAL talk time, and if there is, can I switch phones without paying an arm and a leg?

PLEASE HELP. So far, we are very happy with Cingular, just not so impressed with z500 battery life.

Were the talk times that you saw based off of the extended life battery? And if not bring it to a local store and see if they can do a defective exchange.

To me it seems like manufacturers and carriers have sometimes different specs on talk times.

Like my S710a, Cingular says 4 hours. Which for the most part is accurate.

But then Sony Ericsson says 7 hours talk time. Now, I'm convinced they mean 7 hours of talking to the phone and not on it. If I could get 7 hours of talk time, I'd have a smile going ear to ear.

Sony Ericsson says 5.5 hours talk time on the z500.

Unfortunately, I feel your pain. Now I'm kinda pissed that I spent all the time researching this. My wife and I just hate to have to charge a phone every other day.

That's a good question, I have also tried to get information on extended life batteries for this phone and I can't seem to find anything definitive. The battery that was shipped is a Li-Polymer SE Standard Battery BST-35, 700 mAh.

I have seen (if memory serves on the SE site) that they intend to release a BST-36 and/or BST-37 that may be compatible, but there is no info on the expected battery life for either.

As far as the defective exchange that you mention, I ordered through the Cingular Site, will that be an issue for the local store, and what am I exchanging for, a replacement BST-35 or an extended life?

Thank you very much, is it Jackie?

As far as I know, nobody really makes extended life batteries for Sony Ericsson phones, not even Sony Ericsson.

Yeah this is Jackie 😁 ... And they would swap the entire thing to play it safe if the phone has a short, the chargers have a short and so on...

Most of the time, you're going to see specs that were tested in laboratory ...
