I tried the phone for a couple of days and don't recall that it had Push to Talk.
It's a pretty good phone. I'm a pretty heavy user and have a lot of contacts and many of them have multiple listings. The Moto software is prettty bad if you've got a lot of contacts. That's the main reason I returned it.
It held a signal well and the sound was loud and clear.

Did you use a BlueTooth headset with it? If so, what kind and how'd it perform? Thanx

Excellent! Thank you. My pair of newly arrived v557's are charging, and my MH820 is paid for and should be shipping on Monday. My needs are few. Durability, reliability, and reasonable signal reception, ALL in the phone mode, are my priorities. I won't use the camera or the MediaNet features, and probably not the text or multimedia. I'm all about a solid, practical phone, and am hoping this combo will do it for me.

The v557 is NOT a PTT phone. Phonescoop says it is, but we have them in store and they are not PTT capable currently. You may see that PTT will be available on this at a later date, but not currently.

I don't want a PTT phone. I used a Nextel at work several years ago, and was not impressed. What's the attraction? Am I missing something?

Cingular PTT service is absolutely AWESOME! To say the least. Cingular really put some thought into this service. You can have a PTT conversation with up to 29 people plus yourself. Then if you want to actually have a telephone conversation with ALL OF THESE people you just turn it into a telephone conversation seamlessly by a conversion feature. If you have Unlimited Mobile 2 Mobile on your acct you have nothing to worry about with the mins usage. Motorola is going to release a version of the V551 with PTT its going to be called V551P and according to rumor its going to be released around March of next year. (Has a very handsome black case) & and will also allow you to do PTT over bluetooth!

hopefully when it comes out, the price is still $9.99 add-on feature. hope it doesn't get raised to $20.00 plus like a cs rep i talked to about it.

ahh rich... the phone has PTT, but it's not compatible with Cingular's kodiak system... so it's best it's not discussed here lol

Just curious, I email a while ago with a suggestion to differentiate the PTT systems on the phone reviews... is it still in the works?

On the phone specs, instead of just answering yes to the PTT question, maybe write something about the system it works on or something... it might help the non-cell nerds 🙂
