Shipping methods used, order status
After ordering a phone by calling customer service, there is practically no way to check the status of the order to see if it was filled. It's only been 3 days... but is there any way to really check?
The cost of S&H is $14.99 for a 3 to 5 day arrival of the phone. Does anyone know what kind of shipping method this is...overnight, second day air...?
AT&T Wireless S&H was 9.99 for standard overnight. What a crazy $5.00 price hike if this isn't at least 2nd day by Cingular.
Cingular says that either FedEX or UPS would send for them.
Any suggestions?

Probably FedEx... or possibly USPS because that is who we use for insurance and XBM.

It's usually FedEx. They wont leave packages without people signing for them, so it's the preferred method.
I always pay at least $15 for 2nd day air with UPS or FedEx for things I order offline.

I ordered my phone at 515 Friday afternoon Eastern...does Cingular consider Saturday a business day and could it been sent out late Friday?
...
Hmm... you phone probably didn't leave distribution until Monday. It should be shipped FedEx and FedEx will leave the package at the location without a signature. You wouldn't believe how many missing phones I had to help track down. BTW, was this a new phone only or a migration?

A new phone on an existing contract. Just buying the phone outright. I live in a city, and not far out or anything, so i'm expecting the phone Tuesday or at the latest...Wednesday.
That's a realistic guess, since the actual shipping method by FedEx (i.e. Second day, overnight) is a tough to say for sure. I called CS and they didn't know.
I'll give it til Wednesday.

No on the Friday thing cause it would have to be out by 5... As for Saturday, I would not think so.. So the earliest it would have gone out is today. 😕

on the "fed ex doesn't leave packages at the door without signing..." they do...
strangely enough i got TWO calls about it in the same day. evidently Cingular puts in for a signature waiver so they can just drop it off and leave it.
One customer ordered one of the PDAs....$450 on her credit card. She found out it was dropped off, then taken from her front door. So she did a stop payment on her credit card. We turn around and billed her the $450 on to her account due to "fraud on the credit card." Personally i'd be pretty angry if someone left my $450 purchase sitting on my doorstep without my knowledge.

Oooh, that sucks, but thanks for the info. I'm glad they leave me door tags when I'm not there.
