If I have my Caller ID (name and/or number) permanently blocked by Cingular, will I still show up as "ID'd" if I am in that person's cell phone book?

No, if you block it only unknown will show, but you can program the people that you want it to show for with "*82" previous to the number then it unblocks it just for that call. 🙂

OK, thanks...that would be easy enough! I already use *67 to sometimes block, or use the option on my phone before I dial as 'hide my number'.

I'll be calling to see if they can do this; was 'supposedly' done last summer, but number and name are still coming through.

I have a friend of mine who blocks calls through his phone. He manually set his phone to block the ID on all calls. When he calls me it shows up as 'private' even though he is in my phonebook.

That must just be a setting available on specific phones?

I can select 'hide my number' or 'show my number' before I ring someone, but not universal.

I just tried *67 from my home phone, after deleting my 'home' listing from my cell phonebook. I still showed up, but remembered I didn't delete 'home' from my SIM.

After deleting 'home' from my SIM, the listing came through as "Withheld" instead of "Unknown".

I guess "Unknown" would come through if Cingular automatically blocks my name/number, whereas "Withheld" means that the caller has manually blocked their number?
