This is about the 3rd call i've had about this same problem. I'm not sure if TeleSales or FedEX does it, but customers seem to keep having problems with the "signature waiver" when they didn't ask for it. Then somehow the phones get delivered, but aren't waiting at the front door.

I guess you could blame the dishonesty of people in this world now days too...but is this us(Cingular) doing it, or does FedEX just automaticaly do it.

I asked Fedex and they said it was customers options, but i've had people call in and never heard about the signature waiver, and dealing with people all day long you can kind of point out the ones who are BSing and lying....any idea on a way to fix all this? any big shots on here up in the food chain at cin...

I mail out tons of phones I sell through Ebay. I also receive a bunch. If you goto the Fed Ex sort facility in your city and sign a signature waiver then anything delivered requiring a signamture can be left on your doorstep. That is an option through Fed Ex.

I don't know if this helps answer your question, but just thought I would chime in.

We frequently use FedEx at my job. We have to physically sign a portion of the shipping slip to have this signature waived. Perhaps that could be the problem.

I'm also wondering if there's an option on the shipping end that allows this signature to be waived. I've had a few people call XBM from my store phone and they were advised to have someone on hand to sign for the delivery, but this could've changed. If it has, we need to go back to the way it used to be.

In my experience, its been FedEx with the problem. At one time, our store was averaging 1 stolen shipment a month. We would recieve the box for the phones with everything inside, cellphone box, charger, manual, but no phones. They were being taken out somewhere between FedEx and our store.

I've had two phones shipped to me in the last week. One XBM and one lockline. On both I was told someone would have to be home to sign and both times the packages were left on my doorstep. So Cingular says they have to be signed for, but I that doesn't matter to Fed-Ex.

As far as I know Fed Ex has terms and conditions that include that if they are not home and Fed Ex deems the location safe they can leave the package without Signature so the cust should be home during regular business hours to sign and recieve the package

I've had this issue several times , and what I understand from both FEDEX and UPS , is that when you sign a signature waiver , even once , then they keep it on file and can leave packages without a signature from then on.The exception to this is for business'.Both shippers will always require a signature at a business. The drivers are supposed to use good discretion when leaving the packages.
