Does Cingular allow U to move pics from phone to PC?

chimera

Hi all. As one very disgruntled former Verizon customer, I'm looking for a new carrier. I'm looking for one that lets me move my pics from my phone to my PC without charging me $0.25 per pic. Does Cingular let you do this? (whether by cable or bluetooth)

Also, how is their network coverage compared to Verizon? I live in TN if that helps.

Thx.

You can move pictures via bluetooth or data cable. Though I would recommend bluetooth, it's a wonderful thing, so easy.

I believe the coverage is very comparable, unless you go out into the boonies where Verizons analog service will kick-in and Cingular will die off. Even then I believe the Analog coverage is limited. I'm not a boonies type of guy though.

Cingular does NOT charge for data transferred over BT,,,,,Sounds like you have been to Verizon store...

I exclusivly transfer pictures from Pc to my T637 using BT and have no data plan. I have never seen a phone camera that takes the quality of a real digital camera so I do it via BT.

I thought you would need the correct software as well to transfer for your computer sometimes costing 50 bucks?

Does anyone how it works on PC? I've been telling customers it won't work without software because thats what I was informed of. By reading all this it makes me think I am wrong.

If you have a bluetooth adapter on your computer and a bluetooth phone all you have to do is sync them and voila! Depending on what adapter you have all you have to do is click on the bluetooth icon in the taskbar and itll give you some options of what you want to do.

what are you smoking? they're not going to charge him for using Bluetooth.

I use Bluetooth ALL the time for transferring pics, ringtones, and to teather my computer to my phone, never have I been charged a cent for using Bluetooth.

If you're going to post information at least make sure it's somewhat accurate. No offense.

I dont know what you mean by teathering but Cingular does not charge for using bluetooth when transferring pictures, ringtones, etc to/from the phone. They will charge for data connection on the Cingular network when using bluetooth as a modem but not for transferring files.

EXACTLY!

temp, i don't know if you are confused, but bluetooth is a universal wireless connection. it can be used for many things, hence the different "profiles" that are built in to the technology. Cingular does NOT block the OBEX file transfer like VZW does. OBEX file transfer is different that "Blutooth Modem" or "Dial-up networking" OBEX is JUST for transferring files from one device to another. it cannot be us...

Cingular DOES NOT CHARGE FOR BLUETOOTH unless you are using it as a modem. Then I would suggest getting a plan to cover that rather than paying per use.

Yeah, no charge if you use a data cable or bluetooth, also you may want to look into any of the phones that have the MMC or SD slots, because then you can just use that to store the pictures you want. 😁

but cingular no longer offers a nokia w/ memory card slot w/ a decent camera, the only good one was the 7610 and its since been "discontinued"

Your guess is as good as mine and anybody elses. This is the first and only Sony Ericsson not to support Duo Pro and it was, as you stated, a bone headed and/or idiotic decision! 👿

This was the main reason I decided on getting the RAZR instead of the S710a. I figured that the RAZR would be more fun since I already had the 6230 that could do the MP3 thing with a larger memory card.

That's cool. Moto's arent really my kinda bag but I have to admit I love the styling of the RAZR, good name too cause that phone is sharp when it comes to a cosmetic point of view, in my opinion.

Im all about Sony Ericsson so the S710a was a dream come true for me. As for it being limited to 128MB, no big deal to me since I had no intention of using it as an MP3 player, I have my iPod for that. I just use it for MP3 ringers mostly and pictures.

That's cool. I never actually broke down and bought an MP3 player, so I just figured that I would get a phone that could do it. Thus, my 6230.

I simply like the RAZR for the styling. No other reason. My 6230 blows the RAZR away when it comes to features. But the RAZR looks cool.

Wow!! Great information. Thank you all so much! I'm so glad to hear that. I wonder if the money VZW makes charging $0.25 per pic transfer balances out the number of business they lose because of angry customers.

Anyone know if the new Samsung P207 has bluetooth?

Thx again.

No, the P207 unfortunately does not have Bluetooth.

In all reality there are only a handful of people like us who know how and when to use bluetooth. The majority of the people out there with cell phones do not even know what bluetooth is. The ones who do know what it is use it primarily for the wireless headsets. So Verizon isnt losing money at all from the customers who leave because if the customer leaves then theyre paying the ETF and if they stay then they pay $.25. Smart move to make money on VZW's part but sh!tty for their customers. I had the v710 for VZW before I came to Cingular and just used the TFlash card to transfer ringtones and pictures then they released a new firmware which disabled that. After that I was done with them.

Yeah, I have the V710 now. Its a nice phone but all its cool features have been disabled. The transflash card disablement was also my last straw.

Good point on the lack of people who even know what bluetooth is. Too bad.....I was hoping their decision to disable all these features would come back and bite them in the ass. Pretty unlikely, though.

Yeah I have no idea why they disabled the TFlash transfer ability. I mean I know why but doing that totally negates the purpose of even having it there in the first place.
