Contract Help!!!
Ok I know the reason you can get a new phone for a cheaper price with a contract. But if I am a new customer and I pay the full price of the phone or even if I have my own phone and they do the credit check and everything is ok, why should I still have to sign a contract. I mean if I pay an activation fee and then pay for first two months of service what is Cingular out if I stay just a few months or a few years? 😕

Well generally you sign a contract for a discount on a phone or promotional elements included in the rate plan. I would probably recomdend signing a 1 yr in exchange for the promos like N+W or MTM that can save alot of money. Changing carriers seems like such a hassle do you really think you will need to di it more than once a year?

You don't have to sign a contract if you have your own equipment unless it is a family plan. The only thing with not signing a contract is that you don't get promotions (I.e. nights and weekends, or mobile to mobile) which at $9.99 each to get them it might be beneficial to sign a one year just to save the possible $19.98 a month. 🙂

Ok thanks, I am a in contract with Cingular. The only reason I ask this was I worked for Verizon until this year and we would not let anyone have service for any reason other than prepay with out a contract and I was told by Verizon that all they others did the same. 🙄

Ahh, all carriers say stuff like that. I called Sprint once and they said if you weren't in contract you'd have to pay an extra $10/month. I said why, that's dumb, and they said all carriers do that. Verizon told me something like that once, but I forgot what it was about.

Post paid accts(that means ones with contracts give more benifits than pre-paid so automatically are on a 1 year contract
