SForsyth01

To get the unlock codes from Cingular when a person qualifies to have thier phone unlocked???? I called in over a week ago to get my RAZR unlocked (I paid $549.99 and have the receipt to prove it) and the girl told me that she would be back in touch with me in 5 days. I still have not heard from her!!!! 😈

Should it really take this long?

How long have you had it for, since you have to have the phone on service for certain amount of days before Tier II tech will provide you the unlock code, and thats a minimum of 90 days continous service on that phone, and thats 90 days from when you called in to activate it on the system.any interuptions for ANY reasons stops the clock, and th...

Austin, I am sure that he does not have to wait, although they do want proof of purchase, so you might want to go to your local store Shawn and have them email the request and have them fax a copy of the reciept so you are covered on all ends.

You are the first person out of approximately 20 reps (both sales reps and CSR's) that have said that to me. I was told by each CSR that I called in and spoke with that if I were to buy the phone outright (no-contract price), I was entitled to have it unlocked without any wait. Thus the NO COMMITMENT price. Plus a few sales reps on here, and the sales rep I bought it off of told me that I would be able to get it unlocked immediately.

The no comitment price is that if you want to but it and activate it on a service that requires no contract, or if you have a service out of contract and want to buy the device without renewing it for the sake of a discount.

Misinformation happens, and reps would be the first to agree, however i read directly off the CSP portal, as reps and others tend to go by previous policy, and not reading updates to that, and as a result, can cause misinformation to occur, and escalated customers and situations

I just got off of the phone with Cingular Customer service again, and asked them the criteria, based on your replies on here. The nice person that I spoke with informed me that I am, based on CSP's protocol, that I AM entitled to have my phone unlocked (due to paying the no commitment price of $549), no matter how long I have had service with Cingular.

Actually, the reason I was not given the code is because of a mistake made by the initial representative that I spoke with. She did not have me fax a copy of my original receipt for proof of paying the non contract price. I just faxed that over, and was told I should have the code within a couple days. 😛 😈 😛 😈

Yeah but they still have to wait, thats in the CSP portal,if you buy the phone for no commitment pricing, or if you cxled and paid ETf, they will unlock so long as it was on for 90 days continous service, otherwise Tier II rech won't unlock it, and they the only ones who will unlock it.

That was the policy before it was changed in the CSP eligibility requirements. It was changed March 1, 2005.The reason it was that it helps with the recoup of losses associated with the company carrying that peticular phone model or series.

Hey as far as i'm concerned Jackie, reps can do what they want, if they want to not follow the p&p, thats their choice and their risk, as far as i go, i follow it to the letter, and if the customer don't like it too, bad, i'm here to follow it and work within it, thats the bottom line!!!

Sorry , jackie we gtot sent out a center wide e-mail, that they don't want us sending e-mail outside of the center, just to the MO's or TL's, and Regional Directors, they even added a firewall to prevent us if we try.

Thats right, they do not want us sending e-mails from one center to another or from one channel to another. They want you to go through proper channels over the phone, but not e-mails, i'm guessing cuz they don't want the wrong person to get hands on proprietary info.

Verbal is one thing but acutal documentation could be bad in the wrong hands.

Also, large portions of the California Bill of Rights is being reexamined and some of it has been overturned. It remains to be seen how much of it will remain... 🙄

I think California needs to repeal the law of gravity in order to ease fuel consumption, then make Pi equal to 3.0 so it won't be so tough to figure out equations--those endless decimals are a bear... 😉

Don't feel bad, I am still waitng for my subsidy unlock code for my s710a that I submitted on 4-4-05. I couldn't wait anymore and had one of my co-workers unlock it for me.

Cingular has a team in California that works on unlock codes only. There is no direct number to call them. Their only direct line of communication is through teir 3 tech support.

The V3 is down to $399 in my market for the no-commitment price. If you are still in your 30 days, I would return it and have them resell it to you at the cheaper price.

No it does not, they have a "agreement with the carrier" that its locked by the carrier, and they are not allowed to release the unlock code, only the carrier has it, and if the man. does its breach of contract, in Motorola's case anyway.
