Foundation account question

rathofbuns

Hey all.

I'm thinking about switching to Cingular from Sprint, and my wife's employer has a foundation account. Cingular gives some great discounts/perks to government employees, however, they (I called cust. service) told me I had to activate it with them over the phone and had to pay different prices for the handsets.

For example, online you can get the new Samsung P207 for $79.99. They told me it would cost me $250.

Can I activate the phones through an indirect dealer or even through Cingular Direct, and then add the government discount? If not, the 15% discount they're offering certainly won't cover having to pay almost three times as much for the phone!

Thanks in advance.

You can get the phones in a COR (Company Owned Retail) location and they can apply for the monthly discount but they can not offer the handset discount... The only ones that can offer the handset discount is the the BMG department over the phone (that is if they offer a handset discount to you). 😁 Hope that helps some. 😁

jramossteel, thanks.

Follow-up question:

I have a friend who works for an indirect dealer. Can I get the phones through him, and then call or go into a direct store and have the discount applied? (I would imagine this would be OK since if I had a Cingular account before I started working for the employer, they'd still apply the discount).

Thanks again.

Hello No, thats like having your cake and eating it to, you either do it all through the same or not at all.And i can tell you thats the setiment of most store reps i know as well. You are not willing to give that commision by buying the phone from a corp. rep, but you want their help, taking time away from another sale and commsion...

No i'm not a corp. sales man, but i respect what they do, and for that reason what he asked was stupid, he wants his friend to get the comission off buying new phones, then wants a corp. rep to take tie away from his job, where he works on commision to help out for free out of the goodness of his heart, and losing time he could be selling a service to someone else.

So let's see the indirect dealer benefits with the commsion, the customer benefits by getting the discount, and the corp. gets what-nothing, in fact he loses money.like i said Dream On!!!!

He has to call in to a BMG department in order to get the discount applied, and, guess what, we don't work on commission. So I would tell him to go through the indirect dealer friend and then call in to get the discount applied.

Speaking as a rep who is in business end user care, I would like to point out that as long as he had a FAN to add to the account, I don't care where the phones were purchased. We just add them on and apply the discount. So, to sum all of this up: Get the phone where ever you want, pay as little as possible, then give us a call for your monthly service discount

800-932-9775 should be the direct line for BEUC

Yeah and part of your job no problem, this OP wants to buy at his friends ind. store, then expected a corp. store employee to apply the discounts for him, which is not gonna happen, thats the difference.

Why not? As a cingular employee, it is the store reps job to assist the customer, as long as he is making a reasonable request, we are supposed to provide our customers with service.

-OR-

Boo hoo, some store rep who probably has the same base pay as me per hour and who also has the opportunity to make comissions doesn't want to take three minutes out of his busy scheldule to put a 5 digit number on an account.

Its not the store reps job to help a customer, that why there is a place called customer care.A store rep's job is to sell the product and generate revenue through sales.

And that "3" minutes that you say it takes, is wildly understimated, and yes thats not his job, he would only do it if he was creating an order for sales, and put if on while writing up the order, so why should he lose money, cuz the customer wants our helps but not our prices, piss on him, if he does not like he can call to get it done, or go somewhere else, its just that simple.
You say boo hoo, how many times how you said, i won't go to lunch today or i'll work throguh my brak to help a customer- uhh never, so don't judge. unless you are willing to do something equal...

Wrong again, jack a$$. I do not work for VZW. I work in director level management in the beverage industry. I simply have alot of experience with both carriers. My personal wireless phone is through VZW and my business phone is through Cingular. And if you are representative of the attitude of your whole company, I just might take my business line to VZW as well. You are setting an extre...

This coming from an indirect"authorized" dealer- 1 step above the ****roach, the ones who sells plans without knowing what they are, the ones who charge you a person penalty fee if you interupt the service for any reason within the first 180 days, so you can pocket the money.

Yeah people really trust you 🙄 🙄

Nope, I have to disagree with that, in our job description upon applying for the h=job it states customer service and sales... And On the other side of that, it takes us a wee bit more the 5 minutes to do the business discounts, because there is paperwork that the store needs to keep for audits, there is an online form to fill out and proof of employment to copy. BUT shame on you, Austin, don't assume that the "sales reps" are customer service reps too.

You are a fool.

If you go to an indirect store branded as a Cingular it is in your agent agreement that you must offer the same buyers remorse policy that Cingular offers.

Some here are uneducated, but you are worse. I doubt you even care when you are wrong.
